I wonder if the 301A's foot control has gone out? If the light comes on, it's getting power and it would be really strange for the motor to just quit without making any tell-tale dying noises. Maybe a local shop can test that for you and you might only be out for a foot control. AND, it would be awesome if you could replace it with a full foot control instead of The Evil Toe-Control. ;)

Your prize will be brilliant once you have it together. Witness the wicked Christmas pkg from last year...

Yay for quilting!

I don't know. When I have time to dive into it I will but I just want to get this sucker finished. I'm done with the main straight lines and am about halfway or so done machine-tying in the center of each square. AM thinking of maybe a decorative stitch in the green border but not sure yet. Need to finish tomorrow so I can get it bound and washed by Saturday morning!

Ah yes, how well I remember the christmas box.(es). This will definitely NOT be that epic. I'm thinking a flatrate medium box if the winner is US and maybe 1-2 pounds, tops, if the winner is international.

If you had a friend with a 301A, you could always borrow their foot control to test it. *coughcoughjustsayin*

Can't wait to see the quilt finished. It sounds like you have lots of good ideas in mind!

Prize ideas sound perfect!

I didn't even manage any work on that darn quilt tonight. I was so tired when I got home from work I ate dinner, barely managed to make it through the daily show, and proceeded to zonk out on the sofa for over half an hour. Bah.

Anyway, not sure if I want to drag two sewing machines over 1300 miles round trip. I will play with it this weekend. I'm seriously considering skipping Linus this weekend since I'll be out of town next weekend. Too many things to do. If I get that quilt finished I would still drop it off but otherwise it can be turned in next month. Tired of worrying about it.

OH boy...all this sewing talk is going right over my head! Guess I would understand it more if I was the quilter that you and Jen and others are. But that's okay, maybe I'll learn a thing or two along the way! Good luck getting your machine back in working order.
Surprise packages, I find, are really neat! You never know what you're going to get. I tried to put it together based on who won. The socks, of course, would have been included regardless. Nothing like a hand knit pair of socks! And, seeing how I just won May's prize, I think I'll sit this one out to give someone else a chance. If that's okay with you!

Sorry to babble so much. It's just what's "on the brain" at the moment.

Sure thing. I'll try to remember that at the beginning of July. ;)

Babble away! I don't mind a bit. Just some terms dealing with sewing or machines I just don't understand.
Believe it or not, when I first started watching TTMT videos I couldn't figure out why I was seeing so much quilty looking stuff and all I was hearing was paper piecing stuff. I kept wondering where all the paper was!! Also had no clue what WIPs or FOs were or even what 'frogging' meant! Thanks to all of you wonderful, crafty ladies I have a whole new list I've added to my vocabulary!

I so need to tidy up my sewing room, but there is to much sewing to do.  I am sure your prize will be great. Maybe I could do a prize from the UK at some point. X

Last year I did a "Christmas in August" prize with this giant bag full of holiday themed craft books and supplies. And hardhatcat won in australia, so I had to split the prize into two shipments across a couple of months. It was ginormous, but I had saved the stuff out when clearing out my mom's house after she passed away. So many holiday items! This time will be much smaller and less heavy, that way it's not a big deal whereever I have to ship the pkg, lol.

As for the cleaning, I really wanted to install my new light. It had been sitting in the corner for at least a couple of weeks. It was good to do, as I ended up NOT putting everything back up there but put a couple big items in the box for the charity that is picking up door to door today.

Yippee for cleaning. I really need to clean my craft closet out, but it is such a mess that I'm a little scared of it.

Mystery prizes are the best ;)

Hope you get your machine worked out!

Somehow I still can't seem to find a place for everything. Really need to use up or give away some of this stuff. Siriusly.

That's too bad about the sewing machine! It's great that you've got another option though.

That's so bizarre to imagine a button for the sewing machine :D My Juki has a weird foot pedal, but in a different way - it's ENORMOUS and has two buttons - one the usual pedal for speed control and then a red button, which actually auto-trims the thread for you when you step on it. I've dismantled that function (because I hit it one too many times when I was FMQing and then you're left with no thread tail on the bobbin side, which isn't great!

So it magically is working again, go figure! I'm thinking maybe I just wasn't pressing the button the right way or something. Anyway I finished quilting it on the Kenmore, but didn't finsh burying the threads yet and still need to trim and bind it. Needless to say it will NOT be turned in to Linus this month, lol. I've been thinking of getting a new machine and keeping the Kenmore as a backup, but haven't started test-driving machines yet.
