I'd always wondered if those quilt frames for regular machines worked well. Guess the answer is...it depends! At least it looks more substantial than those Flynn frames. I'd considered getting one of the small ones of those once, but it looked kind of like a needlework frame that you roll around on PVC pipes...which you have to buy. It seemed a little awkward.
Hopefully once you get the hang of this one it'll speed up the quilting process a little for you! Interesting demo, thanks for doing it.
I tried a Flynn that someone gave me and it wasn't for me. I don't think my sewing table is big enough and I found it faster to just fmq.
I did quilt a Linus top last night and it went well. I forgot to say that my Babylock did much better than my Singer. It's heavier and it has computerized stop, so I didn't end up with bird's nests like I did with the Singer. It's still not the quality you'd get with a mid- or long-arm, but it'll do for now!
It looks interesting! I think the previous video didn't give me a very good idea of how it works - I was picturing something more like the Flynn system where you move the quilt on the rails, rather than moving the machine itself.
Anyway, your stitching looks pretty good so far... too bad about fine details being impossible, though. (But for stipple, I think it looks pretty doable.)
So far, so good! I did quilt two Linus quilts and other than the same issues I've been having with my Baby Lock, it went quite smoothly. The range of motion is okay, but I wouldn't say it's superb. Still, I'm happy with how it's going!
The Juki is in my near future...I've been saving up and I'm almost there. Woo!
That's awesome about the Juki.. I was going to ask if that thought was on hold after buying this frame :D Too bad about the BL, but it sounds like you've more than put it through it's paces, so I suppose it's not going to last forever anyway!
Thanks for showing it! I'm not sure I would have the patience to figure it out. Let us know how you end up liking it after you have had it for a while.
