The quilting looks just fantastic! I love the cross-hatching, it's just perfect. I have been hearing a lot of about Board Basting, but I don't personally know anyone that's tried it. Might be an option in future!

Walking foot FTW!!!

A agree, some nice contrast for the binding would look fantastic.

I enjoyed the bit at the end with your quilting space. Looks fantastic!

I decided not to make all the grid lines equidistant apart, I though it made it look a little more interesting since it was just straight lines.

Bright scrappy binding is in progress! Using some leftover binding from greg's get well quilt plus some stuff I dug out of stash last night... 15" strips all either primary colors or brights, all tonals... red, blue, spring green, bright yellow, bright orange, and purple.

I had to move the sewing dummy to make my little quilting corner. It's currently living in a corner of the living room. Kind of creepy when it's dark, lol.

Well, non equidistant worked fantastic!

Woo, scrappy binding! Can't wait to see!

*shudders* even a jacket on a chair in the dark freaks me out from time to time. I can't imagine having a sewing dummy just hanging out in the dark!

The quilt looks great! Go you getting it basted and quilted so quickly! I really like the granny blocks... someday I'm going to do one of those. That backing fabric really is fantastic, but I agree that you should use something different for the binding -- something darker/less white will kind of frame it off.

Thanks! It's amazing how much easier it is to quilt straight lines with that walking foot. Wow. Like night and day, the difference.

Bright (tonals) scrappy binding is in progress! Hoping to finish today if at all possible. I could really use a sick day today, hmmmmm.

Re: get off the floor :) jewells68 August 14 2014, 03:32:23 UTC
Good suggestions. I am thinking I will take the next one to work and push together several square tables in the break room and see if that does the trick. The height will still be hard on my back but I won't be crawling around the floor on my hands and knees!

Love the quilting you did on the Grannie Square quilt.
I have used masking tape or painters tape to mark my sewing lines for quilting. It works fast and it is easy to remove.

A scrappy binding would look really good on that quilt. I agree - too much white on the backing fabric, but I do like the backing fabric.

Yay for walking foot! I use my frequently. Love it!

I had intended to use painter's tape, but since it was my first time using it for marking I forgot to put it on BEFORE I started basting the quilt and, being halfway done pinning, I really didn't want to take all the pins out and start over. Next time I'll make sure to mark it with tape FIRST.

I ended up with a scrappy rainbow of tonal fabrics for the binding, and I am loving it. And I'm even using the walking foot on the binding. Yay for whoever invented this device!
