Sounds like TO DONE to me. Woo!

*bounces* birthday, birthday!

Did I make that bag hanging with the Agatha Christie quilt? It looks oddly familiar...

The social sounds like a lot of fun and a lot like our annual birthday celebration. So. Much. Fun. The crazy giveaway at the end...love that idea!

They get so many books and magazines donated, not to mention fabric. Not as much yarn so it goes fast. Also, this year they had a separate table for yarn that had been donated that was wool/animal fiber for us to take for personal use since we can't use it for linus.

I think you did make that bag! I found it in the bag full of bags when I cleaned out the coat closet by the front door. I washed all the bags and the front button/clasp fell off in the wash so I have it hanging there to mend so I can use it.

I really like that Rodale series of quilting books...nice for visual learners.

Yay for getting rid of, excuse me, sharing, a bunch of the granny squares! :)

That's good to know about the books. Do you have these particular titles already? If so you can tell me some fun stuff to look out for in them. :D

I guess I just didn't realize just how many of those darn Granny squares I brought home to begin with. Must have been hundreds!

You know, I thought I had the borders one but guess not. I got mine when a bookstore that already had discount prices was going out of business. Had to go look: Innovative Piecing (fun, modernish stuff), Rotary Cutting and Speed Piecing, and to my amusement and dismay found I had two copies of Creative Embellishments. Guess what's going in the swap box? Nice series though. And the Singer sewing series (say that 10 times fast) is good.

I've got some of the singer ones, they are good. I almost always refer to the internet to learn stuff these days' though.

Yay for unloading some granny squares!!! I have a love hate relationship with those things! Love making them, hate piecing them into a finished afghan!

Congrats on winning the books and bookmark! The bookmark reminds me of the tatting my great-grandmother used to do! I know you said it was crochet, just the look of it reminds me of that though.

Isn't tatting a type of crochet?

I like making granny ghans that are one giant granny rectangle or square, but I'm not a fan of having to join squares together. However the method I've been using has made it so much quicker.

To be honest I don't know a lot about tatting. Other than the pieces we found she had made, and the shuttles used to do it, my great-grandmother never showed anyone in my family how to do it before she passed away. I've always wanted to learn about it though. So it really could be a type of crochet and I just don't know.

The giant granny square afghans are the best! I call it mindless crocheting, no need to count anything, just keep going till you run out of yarn or it's too big to manage. My very first crochet project was a big granny square I made into a baby afghan for a friend. I needed something to do while I was bedridden after a knee surgery so my mother taught me to crochet.

Lol, did not even think of explaining string cheese. It's a staple in my house because it's such an easy type of "grab and go" snack, especially for packing in a lunch box.

Well done on getting so many things crossed off of your to do list! I like to keep my list kind of short, too, but putting up tasks only for that month. Doesn't feel quite so daunting then!

Yay for winning prizes and unloading some granny squares!

The short list has worked so much better for me this year. As I cross off things I end up doing additional projects that aren't on the list because I look at the list and think... "just a couple of things left, I've got LOADS of time to finish those, I'll just work on this other thing a bit" lol
