You are AWESOME! The quilt looks wonderful and your bubbly happiness makes it even better. A big congrats on such a timely finish!! :D
Glad to hear you finally caved and got the Trek fabrics. It would have been wrong not to. Absolutely wrong. Can't wait to see what becomes of them. The Enterprise print is especially cool!
Small to-do lists are the best. My list has one thing on it. Focus, focus, focus. :)
The bubbly happiness was just a bit forced due to a round of layoffs not an hour before at work, but I truly am thrilled to have it done done done!
So far I am having much more success with my monthly lists. IT doesn't feel like a failure to roll something over from one month to the next... not like at the end of the year, and you're like "But I had all year, why didn't I do it?!" It is much more motivational for me. And a comfort when I get to draw a thick marker-line through something on the list. ;)
YAY for finished get well quilt!!!!! It looks amazing! I love wrapping gifts in a handmade pillowcase. :) That is SUCH a beautiful Linus quilt for Greg's daughter.
And yay for finishing your second quilt!! I love that you are "inexperienced" because now I don't feel so alone LOL! Aside from mini quilts, I've not completely finished a quilt yet - working on it though!
I actually did do a wall-hanging perpetual calendar first, but it didn't have a binding or anything even though it was quilted. So I usually don't count it. And I've made about 4 quilted potholders... but this was such an exciting finish for me! I can't wait to get caught up with my swap stuff so I can tackle the next unfinished quilt in my UFO bag. I haven't even shown y'all that bag. It is a huge IKEA bag and is STUFFED even though it's only got 3 UFOs in it.
The IKEA bag has my PoD blocks, my PoD fabrics, my patterns, a quilt top I finished in 2011 for my niece's wedding and never quilted (she ended up getting cash in a car instead) and a knitted log cabin style afghan that I haven't worked on for YEARS. I had isolated it in a space bag with moth balls after all the yarn in the project bag with it showed signs of moth infestation. I haven't seen any damage or anything to the blanket itself. I think this year it might actually be time to dig it out, wash it, and see if it can be finished or will have to be tossed.
Love the quilt you made for your co-worker. The pillowcase that goes with it is a great idea.
I love the Linus blanket for his daughter!
I may have to go back to Joann's and see if the Star Trek fabric is still on sale. One of my best friends is a HUGE Star Trek fan and her birthday is in March. A pillowcase may be in her future.
I'm hoping to get to give it to him next week. We are trying to get him to come to a potluck at work so we can surprise him.
I hope your Joann's has the ST fabric! I was pretty well floored when I first saw it there, I think it was in January. The bolt was still wrapped then.
*doing the happy dance for you and your finished quilt* It looks great. I also love the matching pillowcase and the idea of "wrapping" it up that way. All around awesomeness.
I also love that you are a semi-newby quilter. I am too, so I love to see someone else taking the plunge and doing it!
The linus blanket is just sweet! I'm sure she is going to love it.
The monthly list is a great idea! I don't usually do craft to do lists and I think it really would help me focus (slight case of crafting ADD...I blame pinterest).
I cannot take credit for the pillowcase wrapper idea. Ofenjen made me a very special quilt for my 40th birthday and it was wrapped that way. I thought it was a tremendous idea!
It's good to not be the only newbie quilter here anymore. I hve done it so infrequently that I've been a newbie for several years, but I hope to change that this year. 2014 is the year of doing!
The New Year list for the whole year was to hard for me to keep up with. This way I have to be selective and choose what I want to put on the list each month and keep the list fairly short to motivate myself. So far it's working really well.

Ooooh, deep discount Trek-themed fabric! Wish I had a Joanne's here to go look. Hancock Fabrics hasn't carried it I don't think.
Like the idea of a checklist for the month - I may have to try that.

I used to make a to-do list for the year... it was long and overwhelming and just... too much. I'm liking the monthly list much better.
