TTMT #62 - jewells68 - January 7, 2014

Next week I should actually show crafty stuff instead of just talking about it. Ahem.

Here's the link to my PPV 12" block on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8595866@N08/11790777765/

Sorry I didn't edit as much as I usually do, no time! Also, I hadn't showered yet so that's my "I just woke up!" look.

That looks like a new angle!

Ha, I love that you're doing a video for the giveaway! That's the point of course. ;)

I very much prefer crocheting blocks together. I've only stitched maybe two or three together because... soooo boring!

Ha, next week, you'll have to show your crochet stuff!

I'm so happy the Linus blocks will work out for Greg's quilt project. Of course, let me know if there's anything else I can do.

Also, I'm such an enabler, I made you buy fabric without even TRYING! ;)

*hugs*

Yes, a bit of a new angle! Those tall cubical shelves in teh corner used to support my custom cutting table. I stacked them on top of each other in that corner instead now that I have one table less in there. Furniture is all moved, so I had to drag a plastic shelving thing into the room to put the camera on it. I have been keeping my eyes open for a good tall tripod I could use at the thrift stores when I go, but no luck yet.

I should have everything I need to get the top done, but for sure to get the blocks pieced to bring next week.

Yes you are! Not that it's difficult to get me to buy fabric, rules or no rules, lol. And I already got to cross one thing off my list... "buy fabric". ;)

I'm always surprised by how much smoky stuff gets donated here and there, but I guess when you smoke you really don't notice the smell. Anyway, that's awesome you're able to make use of them - the few times Alex has smoked in the house I get all stressed out because I have SO MUCH craft stuff and if it gets smoky smelling I will cry. I guess I could just start washing things more often, but I don't like pre-washing everything.

That's awful about your co-worker, but it's nice that you're able to get your other co-workers on board with putting a quilt together for him. Hopefully everything goes well for him. Great also that your Linus group is going to donate something for his daughter as well. I can't imagine how stressful it is for both of them.

I wasn't sure exactly what the smell was, all I knew was that while I was putting together that small baby blanket with it my eyes were watering and my nose started stuffing up and it just smelled really gross. They came out just fine, thankfully, and I even used my perfume-free laundry soap and dryer sheets.

I just have no words. It was so out of left field at first, and then now we have all been comparing notes noticing symptoms... hindsight and all that. But just so... horrible. He's about the same age as my youngest nephew... 33? I went to see everyone I could find one on one today at work, told them my plan and asked each of them for $1 for supplies. I raised enough money to buy the white fabric and sashing fabric and hopefully the binding, too and I still have $6 left for thread and incidentals, and now it truly is from everyone. I'll buy everything else I need if necessary, but that helped a whole lot, paid for nearly half the cost of supplies!

I just wanted to reach out and hug ya. I am so sorry to hear about your co-worker and my heart breaks for his daughter. I think it's beeautiful that you've rallied everyone together to contribute in the making of this blanket. I'm positive it'll be much appreciated. *hugs*

Thank you so much. I just couldn't think of anything to say or do, and then the idea for this quilt came along. I'm much better at making things for people than expressing my feelings with words. So that's what I'm going to do. :D

7 more signatures needed by my count... out of 46 employees... not too bad! and 7 more hours left until I go home and piece it over the 3-day weekend. Wish me luck, it's been like herding cats getting these signatures!
