The costumes look great! I can't believe how lucky your kids are. And the quilts look pretty awesome, too. No matter what sort of binding technique you used, that's still a pretty wicked turn-out of quilts finished in one day! I'm still reeling from the six hours (O_O) it took me to finish Gandalf. Yowzah!

We take our costuming very, very seriously! It's always been one of my favorite things to do.

Six hours?! Oh my! Good for you for seeing it through to the end!

Even machine stitching the binding, it's still pretty crazy that you got so much quilted and bound in one week :D I don't have that kind of focus, I don't think!

The amount of work you put into these costumes is kind of staggering :D I'm not much on Halloween though, so I'm sure it doesn't seem like so much when you're really into it.

Yeah, I'm a little crazy, I know! It needed to be done, so I got it done!

Did you see the post with your quilts? They came the day before Linus, so I got the finished ones donated on Saturday!

I've always been kind of crazy into costuming for my kids. There's a lot of abandonment in being someone else and they enjoy it so thoroughly, it's easy for me to really get into.

I did see that post - I meant to comment on it, mostly to say how fantastic all the blankets from Amber are, but apparently I blanked on that one :D I was really hoping they'd arrive in time for you to take the quilts in, so it's great they got there in time.

I was never really that into dressing up, but it was always so cold at Halloween where I'm from, so everything you wore had to be big enough to get a coat and warm pants under. And then when we were about 12 or so my parents stopped letting us go trick or treating, so I don't think I've ever dressed up since.

I took my brother and sister trick-or-treating until I moved too far away to do it, so I always had an excuse to go (I'm 10 years older than my sister).

My kids are teenagers and they still go, which I think is awesome. I love the whole idea of dressing up and exchanging the entertainment of being seen dressed up for candy. I'm the crazy lady that will not give the older kids candy if they show up without a costume. One kid threatened to egg my house, to which I pointed out that I had seen his face. Seriously, no costume, I know who you are!

Another great week!!

Oh man, are you one amazing POWERHOUSE of a quilter!!

*stands in awe of you*

I always loved dressing up, but due to circumstances, never felt that I got a costume right...well, except the gypsies and the hippies, but those were easy...and I could still do them today, if I wanted. I think I went until I was in college, but was made to feel pretty silly for being "too old"...it is probably why I don't cosplay well now. I think it's awesome when a family gets into it the way yours does!

Also? HI!

I did the gypsy and hippie costumes, too, I think it's part of our generation's costumes. I also wore a plastic Wonder Woman suite one year...remember those? Urgh, I think that's why I like making costumes so much. I really wanted to be Batman, but my dad didn't let me. Meh. ANYWAY.

Hi!

Even machine binding that many in one day is totally jaw dropping. Someday I may hand stitch a quilt, but not yet. I'd have to actually allow myself enough lead time, which you KNOW I'm horrible at doing, lol.

Yay for lots of video and costumey goodness.!

I get a little manic when I need to get something done...as you well know!

My videos seem to be getting longer and longer. I really need to focus on keeping them under 15 minutes!

I got a little more done on G's costume yesterday. The pouches on his belt are going to be recycled camo pants, and they're working out really well. He and Big E were both impressed, which I think is a good thing.

I edited half my video out. The last few times I've used my camera the picture's gotten worse and worse, but I just can't buy a new camera right now. Maybe next month when everything starts going on sale for xmas.
Cool! I did some costume-related work yesterday too.

Someone asked me on Sewhooked how to make your video less fussy. Ummm...no. Anyway, I hope there's a camera in your budget soon, especially with Halloween coming up. Do you think you could borrow one from your sister or someone at least for that? I don't want to not get to see Miss P in her Anime glory!

Love the costumes so far! The kimono sleeves are beautiful and I hope you can come to a happy compromise with Miss E regarding cartoon-fabric physics. Oops, I mean Anime-fabric physics. :) And Ghost is a British dude? There's one guy I wouldn't want to have a cuppa tea with. Sheesh.

Your overdrive mode is truly impressive. I think you need to make yourself a SuperQuilter costume, complete with cape.

I love making kimonos. That was one of the very first things I learned to make and I've made quite a few of them over the years. Now, if we can just agree on the best way to proceed to the next step!

All of my knowledge about Ghost comes from Gareth and the photos I'm using for reference. Yes, he does seem very scary! I'm almost done with his costume now, and G is very happy, so...yay!

SuperQuilter. Hmmm, I wonder what my emblem would be?

Oooh, if I only I weren't still Macless. I would be drafting a logo in Illustrator right now...rotary cutter as the "q"...bold sewing machine outline...a proper emblem for a proper superhero! :)
