Your Linus tops are beautiful! I am still so impressed with all you have going on that you find time for charity. Not surprised, having gotten to know you, but still very impressed.

I believe you can never go wrong with black, white, and red, but those are my favorite colors! You really tied them together beautifully. Glad you found the walking foot and could quilt that on the old lady.

The monk's bag is beautiful. I love when teenagers quilt. My mother was criticized for putting me on a sewing machine at four years old (it was not electric, but had the pedal you had to master to get it to work). Kids should craft. Period.

The shirt is amazing! Just amazing.

Oh -- forgot they were under one thing, so I didn't respond to your HP story here. Of course, you copied most of that story from me, but it isn't copyrighted, so it's okay. It is amazing how parallel our stories are (I'll tried to get mine on video). I have had no contact with J.K. Rowling, and of course envy that. But the rest of the story is the same as in our house. What a wonderful addition to the society of a family to have it be magical!

I guess I'm not surprised that we have similar stories! Now you just need to write to JKR. ;)

I never feel quite satisfied with myself unless I'm doing something charitable as well. I guess it all goes back to knowing how darn lucky I am to be living the life I live. :)

Oh, red, black and white are your favorites, huh? I did not know that!

Elena's been sewing off and on her whole life, she just gets more into it from time to time. This is one of those times. :)

I love the shirt...it's my new favorite recon!

Phew, so much to comment on! Your quilt tops are beautiful! I absolutely love the first one you showed...just gorgeous!
Your shirt is awesome!
Your daughter did famously on her bag!
Thank you for sharing your Harry Story. I so enjoy hearing how others came to love Harry. And of course, thank you for sharing all of your wonderful Harry patterns!

Ha, thanks! I know it was a lot to watch today! I thought about doing just the HP video, but I had so much show and tell, I couldn't resist. :D

way to go E on her monks bag and i love the crochet tee.

Love your Harry Potter story. I've known most of it already, but it was great to hear again. The experience of being part of HP fandom from the beginning when it was all new has been amazing.

Also you do meet some nice people through fandom crafts online. I know at least one that has become a treasured friend!

I know one or two people I've met through fandom that I definitely could not live without! ;)

Two more fantastic vids! Your daughter's monks bag is really nice. She did an excellent job on it. What a good feeling it must be that your daughter is a good seamstress.

Love your she-shirt. It's really pretty and fits so well.

The Linus quilts surely will be loved by their new owners.

Don't you love those old sewing machines! They're so heavy and durable and reliable and just plug along like a big shire work horse.
The black, white and red color combination is really striking and nice. I've noticed a lot of that combo in home decor these days. It has a slightly Asian feeling to it.

I super enjoyed your Harry Potter experience vid. I'm really looking forward to checking out your posts on the birthday party. What an honor to know that JKRowling hangs something you made for her in her office. Congratulations on that!

Thanks, I'm really proud of my girl!

She-shirts...I <3 them so much! 1/2 my closet is full of them, lol!

I love my old sewing machines and currently have three Singers. One is not *quite* working, but I'm working on it. It's a slightly later model and has a zigzag stitch, so I'd really like to get it working for Miss E. I think it might need a new belt, but I'm still figuring it out!

Glad you enjoyed my HP video. It was fun talk about and I came close to tears a couple of times...so much nostalgia!

I actually watched both of these yesterday at work but was interrupted before I could comment. Stupid work.
Your video reminds me to order my skip stitch. I've been meaning to do that! Is that ILTY or cotton yarn? So many options with that skipstitch and crochet! It looks so cute on a top, though.
Elena's bag came out great! Must make another bag!
Harry!
So many exclamation points!

I totally forgot to say I used cotton yarn! Oops! I crocheted a little bigger than I wanted so that when I washed it, it shrank up nicely.

Exclamation points are good! ! ! :D

Just ordered the original and the #2 skip stitch blade. Am so excited to be ready to make something that I am going to start working on the craft room at lunch today. Thanks for the kick in the butt!

I have to warn you, those things are totally addictive! I've envisioned bags with crocheted together pieces of denim, using it in a similar way to put cuffs on jeans...omg, so many options, my brain could explode from it!
