[Kate had settled into the library and was dragging a card ladden with books of poetry. She wanted to write her own lyrics and was in search of inspiration. She had gathered author names from some of the other passengers, and today was the day she had resigned to sit down and delve through some of them

*Marco's come to like the library more and more lately, even if he's not really using it for anything fun lately. He's grabbed a couple books from the stacks for himself and was going to claim a table to read them on when he notices Kate's mass of books. He pauses by her table, raising an eyebrow at them*

There's a task force that's been put together to help protect the ship and its passengers from trouble like we had with Jennifer. That's what I meant.

Not that I'd say 'you can't help' if you can't do anything useful, I just need to know what you'd be best at.

Really? How does that work?

Well ... it's easiest to do through music or singing, since that already taps into emotions ... but with enough focus I can encourage someone to feel something in particular. I can't do it as much here ... it seems all magic is dampened ... but I can give it a few uses before I'm tired out ...

It works by ... well ... emotions are your mind's manifestation of the fire within you. My magic is fire, so I can manipulate it.

Could you, say, calm people down or cheer them up with it? Or attempt to at least...
How many people could you affect at once? Assumedly with music, since you said that was easier.

Those two are easy. And it basically works on anyone who's listening to me. I can't really do it without talking at least ... I haven't tried ...

Talking or singing should be fine. But I might have to call on you if we need either of those.

Ah. Does it have to be in person, or can you do it over the comms?

It doesn't work over recordings. The magic has to be transfered from me to someone. That would ... defy the principles of magic ...

And I've tried. Remy thought we could do that during the last big thing.

Heh. *He grins. Of course Remy would have thought of that* Well, if I think we need it again I'll contact you.
