Notes: This is part of my "In Truth, Beauty" series. All you need to know is that it's a Snape/Anya pairing.
Severus Snape was the perfect man for her: sexy, sneaky, steadfast... His voice could make her melt. But that didn't mean he wouldn't break her heart. Anya had to be sure.
The Wizarding World had the perfect answer for uncertainty: Veritaserum. But Severus was a spy as well as a Potions Master; it would be difficult to trick him into taking it. Very difficult. He would check that they were drinking from the same source, would watch her every move for sleight of hand. It was one of the many things she admired about him; how very careful and meticulous he was.
She would simply have to be more careful, more meticulous, more sneaky. Just this once.
Veritaserum. Clear, tasteless, delivered as a liquid. If she put it in his glass beforehand, it would evaporate. If she tried to put it in his glass as she was pouring, he would notice.
She experimented, again and again. Finally she hit on the solution: clear gelatine. Set in gelatine, the potion could line a cup or glass, almost invisible, and not evaporate. A hot beverage would melt the gelatine, releasing the Veritaserum.
She could dose his tea. Then she would be sure.
