“So? Whaddaya think?” Daniel couldn’t believe how close Jack was to actually bouncing.
Xander shrugged. “I give it a seven.”
Jack glared. “Seven?! We just blew up an Alkesh! That’s a nine, at least!”
“It’s great, really. But after you’ve seen a hot blonde with a rocket launcher, blown up your high school, and pretty much watched your whole town be destroyed you gain a new appreciation for destruction. I’m a connoisseur and that was a seven.”
“Sam blew up a sun,” Jack countered somewhat sullenly.
“Now, that deserves a nine. Impressive,” he complimented Sam with visible interest.
She blushed.

There was a time when Daniel would have found the young woman’s blasé attitude inappropriate and immature. But after years on SG-1 he found her manner comforting in its familiarity.
“So you really don’t know why the spooks grabbed you--or do you think I’m a plant?”
“Can’t we just wait to be rescued?”
“Hey buddy. I’ve done this a hell of a lot more times than you have and I’m sick of the broody silences. What about some conversation before the baddies try and torture us? Is it so wrong to try and strike up a camaraderie?”
“How do you know I’m not a plant?”
“I don’t.”
…
“But if you are my friends will know and they will totally kick your ass. Until then, why not get in some scintillating conversation?”
“Get kidnapped a lot?”
“You have no idea.”
“Oh, I think I do.”
“You wish. If Guinness had a category for ‘Most Kidnapped’ I’d so win.”
“I doubt that.”
“Really? You want to challenge me?”
“It’s classified.”
“Convenient. But think on this, I’ve been snatched so many times my sister has me on lojack.”
“This is a ridiculous argument.”
“Point. I won’t tell if you don’t.”
“Agreed.”
