Faith didn't do anything more than one-night stands. She tried, it didn't work. She couldn't trust anyone enough for...compromise. Or commitment. Or any other of that crap that a relationship meant that Faith wasn't meant for.
But once in awhile, Faith allowed herself to indulge in the idea that she could.
If she just happen to indulge more than once with the same person, then that was okay. Because it didn't mean anything. Definitely not safety. Or comfort. Or home.
And if she was going to something, it wouldn't be with Sam. He was as fucked up as she was but he still managed to be purer than she could ever be. He was...
Sam shifted against her as if sensing her thoughts and Faith subconsciously ran her hand down his arm, letting him know that everything was okay. Then she realize what she was doing and jerked back.
Still, she leaned just a bit closer to him and convinced herself that it was the cold. Even if it was the middle of July.
She also pretended not to feel the feel of Sam smile against her skin. Or anything else that was proof that she was only fooling herself.
