Are you sure? I thought, "Get a Mac," was the ONLY answer to all of life's little annoying computer issues!

As for the rest, I don't know. My work PC recognizes my iPhone 9 our of 10 times (though the USB on my PC won't charge the thing for some reason), but I'm running XP and it's an iPhone, so I don't know if either of those might be why I'm not having issues.

Good luck. I assume this is just Windows not playing nice with Apple software, which leaves you in limbo.

Yeah, XP didn't have the issue. Vista probably does.

If I got a Mac I'd basically be paying quite a lot for a (very pretty) case and (very nice, but not that much nicer in proportion to what I already have) hardware, only to.... install Windows on it, since none of the games I've put so much money into will run on OS X.

Well, then, it sounds like the valid answer is, install XP. I assume there's some reason why this won't work?

I've heard tell that Windows runs better on Mac hardware. Given how badly Windows runs on PC hardware, I wouldn't doubt it.

I'd rather the slight annoyance of having to dismiss an autoplay than lose DirectX 10 shininess, which XP lacks :)
