Oh, Sam's dead. *sobs* That really hit me. I like how describe kid!Kirk's feelings about it and the way his behaviour changes afterwards.

I'm glad Sam's death made such an impact - I didn't want to seem like I was glossing over it without real description, but the story had to get a MOVE ON. XD

A lot of the story is going to focus on how Jim changes as he meets, interacts with and loses all sorts of people. The next chapter will be a bit happier, I promise!

It was great to see an update. The idea is very interesting and the writing quality great. I like how you paced the story. You cover years but somehow it does not feel rushed. Great job staying focused on the pertinent information.

You have no idea how glad I am to hear that it isn't rushed - I was very worried because I have a hard time writing in copious amounts so I have to get the point across in fewer words, thus the rushing. I'm very happy that you thought it was paced well - thanks for commenting!
