20102, a meme and signs of impending insanity

Jan 06, 2010 10:14

Hello, first day of the semester. Why are you already being mean to me? I've loved you and petted you and done everything exactly the right way. Yet my inbox has 63 messages complaining that they can't access their classes yet, the earliest dating from 6PM last night. Enrollment gets started at 8AM the day classes begin and finishes around 10AM. ( Read more... )

Heh, I'd read it, but never write it jazzypom January 6 2010, 16:25:19 UTC
The amount of research for Victorian mores and the style of writing and blah de blah blah wouldn't be worth the work at all.

Exactly! If I were already interested in history and whatnot, it would be gold, but as it is I'm happy to reap the rewards of other people's passion. :D

Isn't that snarky, easy, delicious relationship so much fun? I came out of the movie going, "Holy shit, this is a 'How to write Steve and Tony' primer! ZOMG, must go for a third time for research!" (LOL.) And the interviews with RDJ and Jude Law are fantastic.

Also. This may not be an epic Avengers/Holmes crossover, but it is movie!Tony getting tossed back into Victorian England and meeting Holmes and Watson. It's WIP, but part 3 just went up yesterday, and it's pretty darn fun. Tony has just charmed Mrs. Hudson, and is flirting outrageously with our repressed detectives.

YES. It's just beautiful, how they work together. I spent the movie squealing at every bit of subtext. Naturally, there was a lot of squealing. I think RDJ and Jude Law have some sort of strange fascination with needling reporters and executives alike. They've come so close to crossing the line from sub- to text so many times, it has shoe prints, and that's for the movie and the RPS!

OOH. (FLAIL) OOH. *SQUEE* OOH. ♥♥♥♥♥ A REC. (HUG)

Your result for The Fan Fiction Personality Test...
The Weirdo

Crackfic, Mpreg, and all the other oddities.

You are pretty weird. It's hard to put you in a box. On one hand, you might lean towards the bizarre subgenres; recklessly slash people with inanimate objects, create alternative universes where Harry Potter is a 7 years old girl named Annie and don't take fanfiction very serious. On the other hand, you might be a misunderstood genius that could write Tolkien, Roddenberry and Rice into the ground, and your ideas are simply totally ahead of their time.

However, the chances you're the latter are rather small.

Take The Fan Fiction Personality Test at OkCupid

I don't like the way that test handled slash, TBH. It bracketed slash with Mpreg, and with shouen-ai and lolicon, which is silly at best, and at worst brackets 'gay sex' with 'underage sex'

and don't take fanfiction very serious.

Maybe I don't, dear test author, but I'd be embarrassed if I let a typo like that slip past.

I noticed that. It made me :\ for a minute-the test is kind of obviously slanted to favor a certain type of writer (that is, the PG, Het, Serious Writer). At the same time, I thought it was fun.

And I admit, I didn't see the typo at first. (hangs head in literary shame)

Well, I just read the test-creator's profile and now I'm snickering. :D That brought joy to my evening.

You made me look. BRB loling forever.

Sad thing is, I think that even if I don't know her, I may know someone who is her ego-twin. D: The random quotes around "suspect phrases" seems eerily familiar.
