"That," Kai declared, "Is bullshit."
Kendrix gave him an odd look. "Something wrong, Kai?"
He gestured toward the sign across the food court. "Visibly Brighter? That's - " He caught himself just as a family with a stroller walked by and coughed. "It's inaccurate," he said instead.
She turned to study the sign, frowning as she tried to figure out what he was talking about. It took her a moment to catch on; her eyes widened, and she hurriedly took a long drink of her soda to keep from laughing aloud. "Kai. That's mean," she protested.
"It's true," he retorted. "Think about it. They're flashy, expensive, transparent, and everyone wants one. Not to mention they look more fragile than they actually are. How is that not Leo?"
She paused, eyeing him again as she considered. When he put it that way, it was actually rather sweet. "Okay, I guess I can see your point," she agreed.
"Now think about that sign again." He waited, staring at her. "Think about last week."
She glanced at the sign again.
THE LEO DIAMOND: THE FIRST DIAMOND EVER INDEPENDENTLY AND INDIVIDUALLY CERTIFIED TO BE VISIBLY BRIGHTER.
"I can see your point," she conceded.
