i think i'm going to go with "i'm sorry, i can't go" and leave it at that. and if someone asks why, i'll have to make something up, because "i don't like the bride-to-be's sister or mother" is not going to go over well. (just like "if we go to this dinner my so will punch someone in the face inside of five minutes....")
