(including how to go on by khohen1, as read by me. :D ) i've read all the fics but one and recommend them heartily. so even if you don't like being read to, or can't concentrate when you're being read to, go and read the stories in question yourself. good stuff there

but i want him to be in lowell! partly because the guy who meets him and talks to him for five hours then has to hitch a ride with someone who's already on the east coast. and possibly i'm just being mean to him. :D

but i don't want to read on the road! (i don't want to take the time. >.< ) also i'm thinking of him as an old ghost, and by the time he died he'd probably gotten over some of the slang. he was forty-seven when he died, he might've stopped calling people "daddy-o." altho i could be wrong....

the only problem with this is that i have no idea how he'd talk - words, phrasing, slang, etc etc - and not a clue how to research that.

Oddly enough, I'd bet he'd sound something like my dad's slightly-older-than-he-is cousins, who grew up on the north shore at about the same time that Kerouac would've been in Lowell. So, think older person from Revere/Swampscott/Lynn and points north.

but then he lived a whole bunch of places that weren't lowell. i'm going to give him a mostly north shore accent, at least. y'know, this story was a lot easier when i was telling it from someone else's pov.

Hey! I just realized the podcast was up, and I listened to it,,k and heee!! I can't even tell you how happy it made me to hear someone else reading my story! You did a really great job with it, and i have to say... I don't know who compiled it, but the Johnny Cash song follows my story on there and that's just really great timing.

angstslashhope puts the podcasts together. she gets the love. :> some of the editions have sub-editors - phantomas did the john gen - but i think the songs were all hope's idea.
