the fact that she had a return train ticket does kind of imply she didn't intend to kill herself, but in what world did she think it was eminently possible to run out of the stands, grab a horse in full gallop, and tie a flag to its bridle without getting at least a little injured? i respect her oomph but at the same time i don't think she fully thought it through. i think that just makes it more awful, tho, especially with the coda about the jockey later killing himself.
