Of course, TV storytelling is very different from fantasy novel storytelling, especially when you have about 9 million novels' worth of material to try to adapt into compelling television. I think they've done a wonderful job, I find it thrilling and basically what fantasy television should be. It's got me interested in trying to read the books now, just to fill the withdrawal between episodes. ;)

I'd forgotten you were watching Midnight Mass - I did enjoy it and agree about the lack of persistent creepiness which was a good thing for me!

and some of the creep was low-level creep rather than being OMG YIKES, which i appreciated. (like, the haunting of bly manor was just disturbing all the way through and i had to turn on all the lights in my house and that is not an exaggeration.) (look, i was swayed by rahul kohli in glasses. he's cute and i'm shallow.) and then there was all the blood which was just disgusting. overall not a bad show! i definitely don't feel like it was a waste of time to watch.
