Swimming is very tense to watch! Both the long cycling races were great races - Equador's first medal since 1896, and the women's race was awesome. Unlike the Tour de France, the riders don't have radio to tell them what's going on, and there was a breakaway group early on who'd normally stand very little chance of staying in front, but this time without the team coaches telling the peloton how big or small the gap was, the breakaway kept going, and going...all the pre-race favourites were in the peloton, and though they reeled in two of the breakaway girls, the Austrian managed to hang on and won it. This morning I woke up in time to see Tom Daley finally win his Olympic diving gold with Matty, by ONE point. That was so tense too!
Anyway, I'm sure you're going to have a ton of US medals to come, Team GB are hopefully going to win some more, but we'll see.
go ecuador! good for them. :D and it sounds like not knowing how far ahead you are helps you stay ahead.

Yes! They call Adam Peaty The Beast. 😂 Tom Daley is a sweetie, they had his husband on telly afterwards and the presenters in the studio were all teary listening to Lance praise his boy. He was so proud that Tom won his first gold as a dad, and that their little son was able to watch it all - I melted.

and aww, tom. that's so sweet. it's so disappointing but understandable that none of the athletes' families could come, because imagine knowing your hubs and your little kid were in the stands watching you win a gold.
and hey, allow me to go well done! for the gb women's gymnastics team, and their first medal in ninety-odd years! i'm watching the team event right now, but all they're showing is the us and the russians. the russian girls keep falling off the balance beam. >.< i'm impressed as hell that your countrywomen came back from being seventh to get the bronze.
