You (or your friend) could always buy an ikea wardrobe for extra storage, you know. A built in closet isn't a necessity. If that was really the only thing wrong with that apartment, you are probably missing out by not going for it!

that is an eminently reasonable suggestion except the bedrooms were slightly too small for a bed, a dresser, and a wardrobe. and while i'm willing to do that in a pinch i'm not 100% sure farwing is. but it's definitely something to keep in mind.
