first, happy hanukah to my fellow hebs. as it is said: they tried to kill us, we fought back, let's eat. :D i failed at jewish adulting and HAVE NO HANUKAH CANDLES. because it totally snuck up on me and by the time i realized i needed candles, they were sold out everywhere. The place I went for hanukkah candles proudly pointed me to their "Happy Hanukkah" endcap which had... lots of boxes of matzoh (10 different types), matzoh ball mix, three different types of kosher grape juice, four different shabbos candle boxes, and a potato pancake mix. Thanks for trying?

that place was trying so hard! they should get some points for effort, even if it was, you know, the wrong effort. i guess the potato pancake mix would be helpful if you didn't want to shred a bunch of potatoes yourself....

my curling club is lots of fun. :D also occasionally silly.

The Tumblr thing is so ridiculous. OF COURSE a computer was going to flag stuff that isn't sex at all.

Was this the backup method you tried?

the bad sex on offer this year is REALLY BAD. not that everyone needs to be able to write scintillating erotica, but seriously, guys, that's bad.

i don't think tumblr gives a shit what it ultimately flags, and the ptb aren't interested in putting any work into it anyway, so yeah, the algorithm is going to flag all kinds of things that are totally harmless. and that is the method i used! it finally finished processing last night and i downloaded a 40gb zip file that when unzipped contained all the pics, gifs, and videos from my blog, plus individual html files of all the posts. i haven't gone through all of them because there are 15k+ html files, but i checked some and while pics/vids/etc aren't embedded in all of them (my guess is someone pulled the pics/vids/etc in question, so they're just not on tumblr any more) and they're not formatted, there's still a lot there. so it eventually worked, it just took forever.

Yeah, I did it once before, and downloaded a 27 gig zip file. I never unzipped it though! LOL. I just wanted to see how it worked and to know I had a backup in some form.

I've been unsure about Green Book. I'm tired of those tropes (even though I was told it was based on real events?). But it kind of doesn't matter since I so rarely watch a movie in the theater. lol!

not only is it based on real people and real events, the son of viggo mortensen's character wrote the screenplay. so the "white dude learns about racism" is kind of understandable (if kind of boring as a trope). i still recommend it, tho. the actors are both really good and they have some nice chemistry, and you do get to see some racism from the black guy's pov. fair warning, tho - all the southerners are pretty two-dimensionally racist. i mean, the south was still segregated and a lot of people were pretty openly shitty to black folks, so it's not like the movie's being unrealistic, but there's no nuance there.
