ah! the whole car situation sounds so stressful! my car is also having trouble (I never get to drive it anyway - I own it for my mom) but my mom noticed the issue before it got really dangerous. It's still going to cost me $1500 though. :(

i got my car back so i don't have to shell out for rentals any more, but man, what a pain. altho at least hertz was reasonably convenient.
