What I just finished reading:
norse mythology, which was entertaining and vaguely educational, altho thanks to the mcu i kept picturing the greater hemsworth as thor, rather than some giant red-bearded dude.
What I am reading now:
engines of the broken world, by jason vanhee, which i just started and is weird and vaguely creepy so far. i read the

The heart and swords breastplate is representative of the Seven Sorrows of Mary -- it's not a super-common image, but it's a variation on the Sacred Heart.

i've had joe hill's 20th century ghosts for several years and have not yet read it. >.< i hope you had better luck with nos4a2.

Nos4a2 was easy to get through and I'm continuing with both Simmons and Hill. I had great fun reading Horns not long ago. I liked Nos4a2 better, but it was an enjoyable read for sure. (And I like Simmons better than Hill overall, but that's because Simmons clicks with me in some way: pacing, cultural references, way of thinking. Hill is a tiny bit more foreign to me.)

I enjoyed 20th Century Ghosts, and liked Strange Weather even better, but nos4a2 is a masterpiece.

I didn't follow the met thing at all but did see some discussion of it on my dash. There was something about how Linda Carter's husband and kids are Jewish and how she thought having a religious-oriented theme was exclusionary and wrong, especially in the current climate? Not sure whether that's a quote from her or someone pulling a reasoning for her outfit out of thin air though... but she did look amazing, so kudos to her.

i didn't know lynda carter's hubs and kids were jewish until a couple days ago, but in that case it made more sense for her to rep her husband's people at an explicitly and extravagantly catholic-themed event. it was pretty ballsy of her. i guess when you're wonder woman and you look as good as she does, you can pretty much get away with anything.

YAYYYYYYYYY! Finally, someone besides me can appreciate the beautiful, haunted mood of this story.
I can't believe you read the last page, though. I _never_ do that. It spoils so many stories!

i've been reading the last page first since i was in sixth grade, and i think it's spoiled things for me maybe twice. usually the last page doesn't tell you anything, and even if i know how the story ends, i don't know how it gets there.
