today is the 50th anniversary of the pilot of mr rogers' neighborhood. mr rogers was as special to his costars as he was to his viewers. he was seriously a wonderful human being

Ah, two films I always have to watch if they are on, even though I have the DVDs and have already watched them so many times.... I feel you.

Yes! The doping scandal in curling is mystifying! We'd heard earlier a Russian had been suspected of using meldonium, so when they said a curler had been sent home, I thought it must be a different offence. Why would a curler need to take drugs? Unless it was something like a beta blocker to steady the nerves? But from what I read, meldonium doesn't have that effect.

I need to catch up on the skating, but I saw the bobsleigh. Those boys are so chunky!

Oh and Ipswich has a Hedgehog officer so we already have hedgehog highways... :D

i've seen raiders like a million times and i don't HAVE to watch it, and i kept thinking "it's so late, i have to go to bed, do i really need to see the exploding heads, i should put my ass to bed, why am i still awake?" and then it was three in the morning and i'd watched the whole thing. >.<

i think meldonium is for endurance? or something? curling isn't the same kind of endurance sport as, like, cross-country skiing, but there's some stamina involved. i'm not surprised it was a russian, but curling! so weird.

I hadn't realized the characters in Call Me By Your Name were Jewish! I am so glad to hear they are just characters who happen to be Jewish then JEWISH characters, We need more normalization of that with all the straight cis christian roles out there.

i've heard there's a fine if you don't watch it all the way through. and no one wants to be fined.

i didn't know anyone in the movie was jewish either! it was a nice surprise. my sister wanted the movie to make more of it - like, why mention they're jewish if you don't do anything with it? - but then it would be a slightly different movie, and i don't want every jewish character in movies to be the jewish person, the token, rather than a character who just happens to be a heb. make it just one thing of many that make up a character.
