apparently team norway broke out the heart-shaped pink pants for the men's curling yesterday. i was waiting for the return of the funkypants! and there they were! i have no idea what pants they wore today, tho

Mot of these winter sports are just nuts. Skeleton for one, but that crazy downhill snowboard racing thing is something else. Apparently over some of the lumps and bumps this guys jump farther than 70m - which is practically ski jumping! Oh and speaking of, I'd recommend watching the film about Eddie the Eagle with Hugh Jackman - it's totally inspiring and funny, and moving. Plus it really gives you a fabulously frightening view of just how scary ski jumping is.

PS those pink heart pants were totally silly but also awesome.

the snowboard cross is kind of scary! i didn't see the men's, but the women were really flying. i don't think they've had ski jumping yet, but man, that shit is terrifying.

that may or may not be the norwegian men's team in a nutshell. :D they're definitely the most interestingly dressed.

Unpopular opinion time! I actually liked The Covenant. No, it isn't a good movie, but that somehow didn't stop me. Though--and I don't know if this counts as unpopular opinion, but it's certainly *something*--I had to look up who Taylor Kitsch is, and nope. Tiny swim trunks don't do a thing for me. It's just...okay, I liked The Craft, too, and it's just as terrible. Perhaps a bit more horrifically 90s.

i like the covenant too, or at least i'm compelled to watch it every time it's on tv. i spend most of the time yelling "salem does not look like that!" at the tv, and i facepalm at sebstan a lot, but as terrible as it is, it's weirdly fun. well, except the bits with the spiders. those aren't great. taylor kitsch does do it for me, altho not so much with the tiny bathingsuit. he just looks so uncomfortable in it.

Skeleton is terrifying! Several of the events are terrifying. I watch with bated breath. I did get to catch that last night despite interruptions.

I missed the pants. Hopefully I will have another opportunity to see them.

skeleton is so scary! luge is too. and the ski jump! and speed skating, yikes. you could lose a hand if you fall the wrong way. i think people have actually been injured during competitions because they fell and got in the way of someone's skate.

i missed the pants too, but this is what the internet is for. :D and possibly my curling club's mailing list.

writing group is so fun. in addition to the urban fantasy, the other piece we critiqued yesterday was a crossover between the little mermaid (movie and, uh, broadway show) and wonder woman. which actually worked! weirdly enough.

The only thing I enjoy about Skeleton is the helmets they choose to wear, those look pretty neat coming down the ice.
