Heavy cream: if you have peaches or strawberries, or other fruits that generally go with phrases like "and cream", well, take it literally. It ends up being like fruit and ice cream, but less sweet. Also, you can put it into hot chocolate, Vietnamese coffee, and probably a twist on Thai iced tea but I haven't figured that out yet. And chai! It'll screw with your ratios a little bit, but only a little.
Congratulations on pie! I'm glad it was tasty!
What's a bonspiel?
I am not up for that documentary right now, but at some point, I shall watch it.
i'm not a fan of fruit in my cream, or cream on my fruit, but putting heavy cream in hot chocolate is BRILLIANT. homg.
i am now going to eat the last piece for dessert. :D there was exactly one piece left over so i took it home because my sister didn't want it.
a bonspiel is a curling tournament. they usually go all weekend and the ones we host are themed. i think the theme for last weekend's was cult movies. last year one of them was star wars themed, so there was a big at-at cutout on the wall of the shed where the ice is.
it's a very interesting and sweet documentary! and it's not that long.
Possible uses for left over heavy cream- put in hot chocolate, really rich scrambled eggs, make a veggie puree (we're having a butternut squash one later this week) and add for smoothness.
Seconding that LoEG is just awful. Have you read the comics it was based on? Such amazing potential, thrown so completely away.
I've been debating seeing Lion in the theaters. I usually try to see all the best picture nominees but I'm not as concerned with seeing all of them before the ceremony any more. Fences is next, as a recovering theater-person that one demands to be seen for me, but Lion was on my maybe list. Sounds like it's worth it?
scrambled eggs! i never would've thought of that. and nomercles mentioned hot chocolate too. yum. a lot of yum.
i never read the comics. i don't even think i knew there were comics until after the movie came out. i heard they were completely different and a lot better than the movie, and i'm not surprised.
go see lion! i mean, see fences first if it's a definite-see, but then you should watch lion. bring a kleenex.
DUNKIRK \o/ Yes, you need to watch it. I need to watch it. It's a must-see. (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, though. More than once. Damn. I remember watching that thing once, and no, just no. Although I have seen at one point a number of highly questionable movies just for the actors.)
You should make whipped cream. Duh. And put it on your pie. Real, freshly made whipped cream is amazing.
it's not out yet! it's not coming out until the summer! ...is there more than one dunkirk?
league of extraordinary gentlemen definitely falls under the heading of "terrible movies i've see for the cute boys". see also: hot tub time machine (IT IS SO BAD. SO, SO BAD. AND SEBASTIAN STAN HAS TERRIBLE HAIR.) covenant (two hours of "salem does not look like that!" and sebstan chewing the scenery) (at least the boys are pretty and it's probably unintentionally slashy as hell) and devour, which my friend's dvd player refused to play.
i, uh, bought whipped cream in a can. it's so much easier and so much more portable than making it. also it's really good plain.
damp toilet paper is THE WORST. i think it's dried off by now, but still. eugh.
to be fair, chocolate chip cookies are pretty simple, altho we did have to scale the recipe up because we were feeding a lot of people.... and not all the cookie trays fit in the oven at the same time. but i may or may not have snacked on the occasional chocolate chip while i was mixing dough. ahem.
cream, fruit, and jelly? that's a new one. i am intrigued by the presence of jelly!
