notes: my holiday project for writing group. we had sense prompts and had to include all five: the smell of hot oil, the taste of blood, the feel of keys in your pocket, the perseid meteor shower, and deafness. thanks to dear-tiger for squee, beta duties, and the title.

Wowza, those prompts!!! But you rose to such a crazy challenge and really delivered with this piece. I enjoyed it immensely. It was both out-of-time but also strangely tribal and historic. I loved the ambiguity of identifying your character. Also....her desires and the reality of having them realized was really well done!

i had such a hard time with this! i still think the hot oil and the keys and the deafness are kind of awkwardly shoehorned in there. and the smell of hot oil was my contribution to the prompts, too. >.< i'm really glad you liked it, tho.

thank you! it's possible i think they're shoehorned in because i had such a hard time figuring out how to make them fit.
