So, I feel that I've missed something. What is this tiny show I've been hearing about? I must know. m :)

the tiny show is a norwegian show called skam, which is about high schoolers. each season is about a different character, and for s3, which just ended, the main character is a boy named isak who falls in love with another boy. it's adorable and heartbreaking and just really well-done for a teen drama. (apparently the target audience in norway is teenage girls.) it managed to gain an international following despite not being subbed in any language other than norwegian, so if english is your only language, you have to rely on bilingual fangirls to translate and subtitle. god bless fangirls. :D

when i go visit wren, she makes me watch tv and i make her take me to waffle house. (we don't have them in massachusetts.) it's a fair trade. :D

it was a filled doughnut with pineapple-flavored cream inside. i was expecting actual pineapple, but the cream was gooood. it was like homemade whipped cream, just pineappley and vaguely basilly.

the turnovers smelled like turnover! maybe the act of cooking and mashing durian makes it edible, i don't know. they were pretty mild-tasting, actually.

i would have been purple with envy if anyone had shown up to my prom in a silver wraith. my date and i went in a limo with three other couples. (four? were there ten of us?) (i think there were just eight.) my uncle who used to have a giant boat of a cadillac drove my sister to the high school for her graduation, to make a big deal out of it (my parents had a station wagon, which was just not as exciting), but for prom, everyone took a limo. which is boring, in retrospect.

I would like to talk about Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, mostly about how they need to make more of them ASAP. They mysteries are good, the actors lovely, and oh the costumes. It was my 'I need to turn my brain off for a while' show during and after my move and it's fabulous.

I need to catch up on both Luke Cage and Daredevil2. I loved Jessica Jones but my hubby found it difficult (not totally surprising since not much happy went on) so we took a pause from the marvelverse.

i've only seen maybe six episodes of miss fisher, and all from the first season, so mostly all i can do is agree with you. :D it's so easy to watch, and i mean that in a good way. it's pretty, the actors are all good, the mysteries are neat, it can be fun and serious and one of the episodes i watched with wren was about a bunch of jewish guys, and they and their religion were presented without any of the "isn't this exotic and weird and arcane but we're being respectful about it" kind of thing you get from american tv when they do a jewish episode. i'm probably not explaining it well, but the jewish characters were a. zionists (which you're probably not going to see in contemporary shows anyway), and b. alchemists, but not c. orthodox. i don't know. it was nice. and again, it looks so good! i want all of phryne's coats and shoes ( ... )

It's a plus of Miss Fisher that they regularly do episodes about "exotic" topics but manage to not handwave it away into something embarrassing. I also love that she's emphatically not married, makes no apologies for her life, and while it raises eyebrows she's not censored for it because there are way too few female protagonists like that in any medium. And yes the clothes, all the clothes.

I'll have to poke the husband about returning to Marvel soon.

phryne seems to be really enjoying her life, altho who could blame her, and not only does she not get a lot of censure for it, people seem to genuinely like her without judgement. i mean, she and jack work really well together. and! the actress who plays her is in her forties! she's an actual adult! it's really great.

Pineapple basil doughnut, you say? I'd try that. And also, so much food and shows and fangirling on that little vacation! That sounds amazing.

it was your basic filled yeast doughnut with fluffy pineapple-basil-flavored cream filling, if by "basic" you mean "made on site and totally delicious". it was soooo gooood. i also got a pig-in-a-blanket, in which the pig was a locally made sausage and the blanket was a biscuit. and it had cheese and green chiles and it was likewise soooo gooood. the dim sum included nori-wrapped shrimp rolls, which were fabulous.

we got a lot done! mostly food and tv. :D
