Loved the article on hair- had a good laugh about the "Bundles for Britain" with the knitting needles- I used to stick my crochet needle in my bun but more because I needed to put it somewhere when I needed to quickly do something else and my hair was there (and sometimes I'd forget it was there and get A Look from hubby later)
Timeless.... *sigh* I like aspects of it, like the random warehouse of clothing, but yeah, Lucy's hair (and makeup) is usually wrong and I'm getting tired of her being knowledgeable in all times and places (I'm not an academic, but in my experience historians have ridiculously specific areas of study- not Civil War *and* WWII *and* 60's Vegas. Although I do like that next week it's apparently Wyatt who knows his stuff) and they're still going with the "meh, close enough" method of time travel which was actually sort of cute this time around since all it appears to have resulted in was a new Bond adventure, but still....
you need to put your knitting needles and crochet hooks somewhere! why not your hair? :D
the fact that lucy doesn't seem to have an area of concentration is starting to bug me too. i don't think they ever said what her particular area of expertise is, but it's not going to be the 30s AND ww2 AND the 60s AND reconstruction. i'd buy "20th century american history", but even then she's not going to have equally deep knowledge of every decade. i did like that meeting ian fleming resulted in a new and exciting bond novel/movie in the new present, but still, the folks at time travel hq seem to exist in a bubble only half affected by any time travel shenanigans. rufus has to record lucy and wyatt in every timeline, and they're all still continuing conversations they started before the time travel of the week. i still like the show well enough, but they really do have a very casual relationship with time travel.
Have you been able to figure out exactly why Rufus is being made to record them or what he's supposed to be getting by doing so? Between his boss (whose name I can't remember) this week implying that it's all part of a bigger conspiracy and the weird 'car suddenly stops and menacing guy threatening his family suddenly appears' bit this week Rufus' spying seems a lot more malevolent but I can't figure out what it's supposed to be uncovering/discovering about Wyatt and/or Lucy.
Oh, Blade Trinity is all about Dominic Purcell, for me. I like Ryan Reynolds, but find him really unsexy. Dominic is kind of dreadful in that movie, but still... hot, hot, hot!
Behind on Timeless and Elementary, thanks to binge-watching The West Wing and also having started "Band of Brothers" via Netflix. I foresee losing a lot more time to both of those. :O
oh, everyone is dreadful in that movie. i mean, even ryan reynolds, in the sense that he always seems to be playing some version of himself, no matter what the role actually is. i think i'd only seen dominic purcell in john doe, which i liked, so it was weird seeing him as the world's first vampire. i hope he at least had fun doing it, since it's, uh, not the greatest movie. even if it does have a vampire pomeranian. :D
neither timeless nor elementary are too far into the season, at least. and band of brothers is only six episodes, isn't it? altho they're long episodes....
i heard about lynda carter showing up and i was like 'darn, gotta watch supergirl now, i guess.' i have literally had a crush on her since i was four. *siiiiigh*
haha, i get stuck watching blade trinity too. i also blame RR and the tiny fangy fluffball.
the hair article was a good read; i was always kinda fascinated about seemingly candid shots of people in hard situations with perfect hair, or nice clothes and make up. when everything's upside and gone pear-shaped, the little details and rituals are that much more important.
she looks amazing! i'd read that she was going to be playing the president, but i was still kind of surprised. you should watch supergirl anyway! it's heavy-handed in its messaging - i mean, it is not subtle AT ALL - but it's bright and earnest and unselfconsciously upbeat, and melissa benoist who plays supergirl is seriously the human equivalent of the world's friendliest, fluffiest, happiest puppy. it's a very cute show.
the vampire pom is hard to resist! as is ryan reynolds without a shirt. :D

So your curling team was on an upward trajectory after all! Go your curling team :D
Dad watched some "Timeless" apparently and judged it very hard in my face the first day I got there. After he got done judging "The Last Ship". He then moved on to judging "Cannibal". It's like judgeypants run in the family here, too, or something.
we sucked, we sucked less, we won! who knows what we'll do this sunday.
i am wholly unsurprised that you inherited the judgeypants. what did your dad judge about timeless? (since i don't quite picture a non-barber father judging the wildly ahistorical hair.)
He judged the premise, which is ancient, and that the show added no new spin to it. He then judged the pointless presence of the black guy, which was very ~sensitive but logistically dumb, seeing how he literally couldn't go anywhere or do anything or have any rights once he got into any era before like the 60s, so he just went along to be restricted. IDK, I didn't see the show for myself, but I see his point.
my guess is the black guy is there to point out the racism of previous decades. i don't mind it so far, tho. it's still relatively subtle. i mean, compare it to supergirl, which i really like, but which can do an entire very special and heavy-handed episode about tolerance and acceptance and living peacefully with people who don't look like you, with aliens standing in for muslims/queer people/poc/pick-your-oppressed-minority. timeless gets in a couple comments about how pretty much every decade is going to suck for the black guy, and then it goes on about its business. your dad's judge is not without merit, tho, because it does seem kind of stupid to take someone along on time travel missions who can't safely leave the pod, thanks to the racism of whatever era they've gone to.
