Old vs "new" Ashgabat is fascinating. Thanks for linking.

I will continue to be eating cookie dough. (I may have some in the fridge right now actually) If you are worried about your flour you can always just stick the whole bag in the freezer for a day or two right after buying it and then use as usual (or stick back in the pantry to be used whenever). My grandmother used to do that way back when when she worried about bugs in the flour.

Judi Dench is awesome.

those cities are totally fascinating! there's at least one in china that was built for literally a million people, and it's COMPLETELY EMPTY. it has everything a city needs, except inhabitants. new ashgabat at least has old ashgabat right next door, so theoretically all those buildings might have occupants at some point.

i didn't know that about freezing your flour! i've had mine for a while so i don't know if freezing it would do anything, but i also don't ever eat enough cookie dough to be concerned about getting sick.

dame judi is the best, seriously.

I guess the question should be, what do you want less: to not eat cookie dough, or to poop blood while your kidneys shut down :D Clearly, the answer is "King Arthur floor"!

Holy shit, US military O.o That was really quick, and a big step! I still remember when they repelled the "don't ask, don't tell". Impressive.

don't malign king arthur flour! it was born in boston. :D (now the home office is in vermont, but whatever.) i refuse to give up my ability to eat chocolate-chip cookie dough ice cream. you can have it when you pry it from my cold dead fingers, e coli or no. *determinedface*

sometimes the military does something right! i'm impressed too.
