someone just added "and also with you", didn't they. hee.

What I just finished reading:
damnificados, which i totally bought on a whim and really enjoyed. it was utopian and dystopian and magical realism-ish to the end, with an uplifting ending.

What I am reading now:

I've only recentently heard about Tennesse and S & N Carolina (and others states?) trying to undermine the more lgbt friendly laws by introducing new laws that limit or circumvent them. Apparently Tennessee is planning to introduce a law that would allow doctors & therapists to refuse to treat patients based on their 'personal beliefs'. I am just hoping they are all going to start turning catholics and republicans away, just to make a point.

And with the peeing thing, what are thye gonna do - ask everybody to carry their birth cetificate with them to check before you can enter the loo? *head-desk*

man, if tennessee passes that bill, i'm just waiting for an atheist doctor to refuse to treat a die-hard catholic, or a vegetarian refusing to treat a carnivore. it's seems so unethical, to refuse to treat someone because you don't approve of their private life. because you know it's just a smokescreen so people who claim to be christians can turn away queer patients without repercussions.

i don't know how anyone expects the bathroom bill to be enforced. it's so mind-bogglingly stupid.

NC lost a ton of money already because of that bill- several companies had plans to move or expand there and have chosen not to, films that were to be filmed there have been rescheduled elsewhere, plenty of concerts/events have been cancelled as well... Maybe this will be the final "we done fucked up" nail in its coffin? One can only hope.

i heard either the ncaa or the nba was rethinking having the championship there next year, and i know springsteen canceled his concert. i'm of two minds about that - on the one hand, the government loses the little economic boost, but on the other hand, normal people (who might be just as disgusted with the law but who also really want to see basketball or bruce springsteen, or who might want to work for one of those companies) lose out too. and i don't love punishing joe and jane average as a way to show that the state house is full of dickheads. but on the other other hand, if it works.... and i don't think the bad press is helping them any.
