a couple days ago i got an email from the gas company saying "congrats! you're 54% more efficient in your gas usage than your neighbors!" and it's because i turned the heat off. it's the middle of december. that ain't right. seriously. i'm a little weirded out ( Read more... )

Dang it, I forgot to record The Expanse!

I was pro-active in trying to record the BBC Americas Luther thing, but you can't record that channel. Suckage.

The date was why I picked numbers, because I like sequences and repetition too. For no good reason, really, but I do. :D

i think it will be rerun but i'm not sure when. it's definitely interesting in a world building and politics sense, and it really does look good.

yeah, there's no particular reason to like patterns like that, but they're just neat.

I turned the heat off, too! Kinda happy about it, because I have to drag my ass out to Bronx tomorrow and I don't have to be cold or wear bulky clothes. West Coast, on the other hand, is cold and snowy. Which is the opposite of last year.

You know what's good about the type of job you have where you mostly don't know what you're doing for a really long time? Job security! Takes too long to train a new person.

Finally, COOKIES \o/ Cookies are delightful.

it's colder on the west coast than it is on the east coast, which is all kinds of wrong. enjoy your nice mild winter while you have it. :D

i think there's also a certain amount of entropy in the company where i work - i mean firm-wide, not just the boston office - they drag their heels a lot when it comes to hiring support staff. so it's entirely possible i'll get to keep my job partly because no one wants to go to the trouble of replacing me.

cookies fix everything. :D

It seems like all cutout cookie recipes make way too many cookies! I made some with my mom and my toddler the other day, and even though we only made a half recipe, it still took forever and made almost more than we can eat. Our sprinkles got everywhere too, but that was mostly because my toddler was grabbing fistfulls of them and dumping them on. :)

The Expanse sounds interesting.

the last time i made cut-out cookies, i ended up with an excessive amount too. whereas a single recipe of snowball cookies (aka mexican wedding cookies), which are the other cookies i took to the party, makes a whopping two dozen. i have no excuse for how i got sprinkles all over the floor, tho. i assume your kid at least had fun trying to decorate your cookies. :D

it is interesting! you probably have to like space tv, tho.
