today's afternoon olympics watching was the last couple minutes of the women's hockey, which was playing on the flatscreen tv in the cafe at work. it was very exciting. i held my breath a lot. obviously i wanted the us to win, but if we have to lose to someone, i'm totally cool with the fact that we lost to canada ( Read more... )

Wow, I wouldn't have thought that David Attenborough's narration would make it over the pond so quickly. It was actually on Radio 4 (talk radio), which I listen to on my commute. The day before a listener had called in to moan about the commentator for the women's curling (I think, I didn't catch that segment), and said something along the lines of 'I bet David Attenborough would make a better job of it'. And within 24 hours they got him to actually do it and broadcast it the following evening. I love it if inbetween all the news about politics & economics they have some fun.

i love that. i pay attention to the curling commentators maybe half the time, and i totally agree that sir david did a better job. and yeah, how cool that radio 4 did something fun between all the serious stuff.
