On the contrary, it's too EARLY for Chinese Food. After all, as a Heb, you are required to eat that on Christmas Day. It's like, in the CODE.

The only people who are allowed to tell you it's too late for ordering Chinese food are the people at the takeaway, cos, y'know, they might be shut.

Didn't you know Matt through PE, and that's how we got to know each other, so kind of second-hand through that fandom?

Your long fics are things of impressiveness and joy ;)

i knew him because of elfwood. the fact he read pe was an entirely random bonus. but i think my first contact with you was so i could sent him one of the trades for christmas.

aw, thank you. for all the whining i do, i'm glad people like them.

I remember seeing PE comics at the comic shop in the 90s but always being too distracted by the X-books to give them a shot. Clearly I missed out! That fandom sounds awesome, and a little like my Gargoyles experience c. '96, only we had a form-based chat room and a listserv like the one you describe. Incredibly fun!

and he felt bad about it! so we re-virginized him.

Case in point. :D

re: longfic - So it sounds like you do it partly for the challenge and partly because you get drawn into the characters' lives. I just wrote a shorter fic and had kind of the same experience with the latter; the more I wrote, the more I knew about the characters, and wish I'd made time for a longer story before the deadline came due. (Yuletide, of course. It's like waiting for the last minute is a tradition with that challenge.) Did you start writing longfic with the process you describe, leaving a lot of time and writing small bits, or is that something you worked out over time?

i admit i stopped reading pe towards the end because the overall plot arc was getting way too complicated and hard to follow, but it was fun and occasionally weird and funny and i really liked the worldbuilding and the art was interesting. (altho drew was waaaay too married to drawing excessively boobtacular women.) one of the trades even has a map. :D and the fandom was equally fun and weird and yeah, we decided to sacrifice a virgin at a con and how many people can say they've done that? and not gotten thrown out ( ... )
