i didn't actually make it to the grocery store, the liquor store, and my parents' house in an hour, but it was close enough. i don't think i've ever blown through the grocery store in such a short period of time. didn't make it to the liquor store, tho. the hanukah party was as always marked by a lot of people, loud kids, and a lot of food. one ( Read more... )

i tried to google the lyrics and couldn't find it either. so frustrating! on the other hand, that really is an awesome version of royals.

oh man, that's even worse than me just being annoyed because historical inaccuracy annoys me. i read an article online today (i think at e online, but i can't remember) that mentioned people were taking the show to task for its wrongness, and one of the writers said yeah, well, we're more interested in telling a good story that people want to watch than in being historically accurate. he was kind of dismissive of, you know, actual facts.

which, well, i don't think they're even being faithful to the mythology. and i get that sometimes you need to fudge some details and combine some characters and compress some events to make it easier to watch, but if they're not interested in actual historical fact, maybe they shouldn't be showing the miniseries on the history channel.

have you seen the 1967 movie with faye dunaway and warren beatty? apparently that wasn't strictly historically accurate either. i liked it, altho i spent some quality time bitching internally about how very 60s faye's hair and makeup were. (beatty went to talk to blanche barrow and get her blessing before he made the movie, and she liked him and gave him the ok. and then she saw the movie. and she walked out of the theater complaining that he'd made her look like a "screaming horse's ass". i'm pretty sure the actress won an oscar, tho.)

i thought ivy methvin sold them out, which might just prove how little i've actually read about them. i hadn't heard that clyde used to disguise himself in women's clothes, either. hee.
