so the word on the job is... no word. >.< i talked to the office manager today for like five minutes, during which time she said she'd talked to hr and they were putting stuff together and could i just give her a couple days. i said my contract ends on friday. she said not to worry about it, she'd extend it a week if she had to. i don't know if

Actually Sleepy Hollow last night bugged me a little. It was a minor thing, but Abbie's insistence that tap water was TEH EVIL and bottled water AMAZEBALLS- that's one of those things that really annoys me because there are a million regulations regarding tap water, usually more than for the bottled water and bottled water is just so wasteful, the expense and the plastic.... It's just a pet peeve of mine, I guess. I did love Crane's righteous indignation over the myth of Paul Revere's ride though. :)

yeah, her complaints about tap water didn't make a ton of sense. sleepy hollow water might not taste particularly good, but it's certainly not bad for you. and it's definitely better for the environment than bottled water! ichabod being totally astonished at how much food and water she'd acquired was so cute, tho. and y'know, his indignation at how the tour guide got paul revere all wrong was kind of like the ptb going "we know we're screwing with the historical record, and in fact now we're going to shine a big ol' light on it". i have to admire their commitment and acknowledgement of the batshit.

Extending your contract a week is definitly a good sign. It means they want to keep you and they're working something out. Fingers, toes and tentacles crossed.

If the job market is like it's here than a permanent postion is always preferrable to temping or periods of unemployment (from a CV point of view) - it's easier to find a new job if you're employing out of a permanent position. Also, temps normally earn better than regularly employed staff. So I think you might still look at an offer that's less than you'd want, but it might still worth while considering it, depending on the job market situation. It's also psychologically less stressful.

i've been there since february! i assume they want to kill me if i'm still there. the question is just how much are they willing to pay me to keep me?

i can't actually accept less than i want. i can't live on it. like, i'd need a second job to make sure i could pay my bills and make my rent. but man, i want a permanent job SO BAD.
