We definitely picked a perfect day to go to Hahvahd & walk around. :DDD Jo & I pretty much froze to death on Monday while walking around the Public Garden and the Common. But we also flirted with a cute fireman, so there was that. And had a great breakfast at this little Greek-owned joint off Berkley, which was 18 shades of awesome.

Next time I come, though, I'm coming in the spring or summer.

ETA, now that I've seen the latest Sleepy Hollow: and also? jenny referred to him as abbie's husband, and i just giggled because it felt like the adult version of "abbie and ichabod, sittin' in a tree", like jenny was teasing her about the boy she's always talking about.

Which would be funny, except Jenny said "her husband", meaning Katrina - not "your husband", meaning Abbie. :D

No, he was definitely from Boston. :DDD But as CUTE as could be. And super flirty. Which is always nice. It also helps that I am well-versed in all things Boston-sports.

I like your interpretation better too, but it doesn't change what Jenny said. ;) (Also, I like Katrina, so I'm hoping she gets out of Purgatory soon & into Sleepy Hollow.)

Yay Illinois! SO happy about that. More happy people who want to marry being able to marry!

and SLEEPY HOLLOW! EEEEE! Can I say how much I appreciated them turning the 'damsel in distress' trope on its head and having Abbie have to save Crane? I also loved how Crane tries so hard to prove he's really Crane and he does and they're all YAY we believe you, now we have to kill you... not the reaction I was expecting. And there's also the way this show deals with lighting and colors- the brightness of the past with the bright red coats and color everywhere and the whiteness of the room and their clothing when Crane passes out in Katrina's arms- different from the starker colors and darker tones used in modern times.

...and I am babbling. But. SLEEPY HOLLOW. Let me show you my feels.

show me your feels! ALL THE FEELS. i love that ichabod is more often than not the damsel in distress, and that abbie generally has to come rescue him. and in context this is totally normal. i hadn't noticed the colors, altho the flashbacks did seem very green in comparison to the present-day scenes, but now i'm going to pay closer attention.

I loved Abby & Ike this episode - the sequenze at the baseball field was really well written, and it's so in character that was ignites Ike is his 'Right to Express himself Freely'. I loved Irvings facial expressions during that exchange, they were just the best, and there was no disuading Abby. I want more of him, please. And Abby holding Ike's hand while he is sacrificing himself for the greater good (as men are prone to do) - putting the lead in peril is always a difficult move for a show, but as you said, I really liked that after protesting, Abby gave him and supported him. Also, Frain & Noble! The story itself was .... I don't even remember...but who cares about the plot.

Given that I am German and have never heard any of these words (thogh I guess Fingerspitzentanz might be a thing) I think it's a prank book. The thing is, in German you can put pretty much any and all nouns together and they still mean something, but it doesn't mean it is actually a word that is being used or people would understand the meaning of.

that's pretty much how i feel too. :D i'm more and more in it for ichabod and abbie. (ike! hee.) (at least you didn't call him ick....) and irving, i really like him too. the scene at the baseball game was priceless, as was abbie sitting with ichabod and basically waiting with him for him to die. they care about each other! and he respects her! it's pretty fabulous.

i had a feeling the compound word dictionary was a spoof, but i'm still kind of disappointed that it is. i mean, i want geheimgangsverlockung to be a word that people actually use.

I'm totally up for raising the words profile and make it into the 'word of the year 2014' (that's an actual thing) although I admit it'll be a challange to work it into conversations. ;)

when we learned that katrina is a quaker witch nurse - really, show? really?I was hoping at first that it was NOT Katrina, as that combination is just wrong in SO many ways (even historically speaking, there is no such cultural thing as a "good witch" in her period and setting). They also usually have the actress wearing quantities of makeup that can only be described as "harlot," again because of the time. She's pretty enough that it's not necessary to go so far into the wrong ( ... )

maybe the quaker thing is a cover, i don't know. there's nothing about her that's remotely historically accurate, even on a show that cheerfully fucks with the historical record at every turn. on the plus side, abbie and ichabod are THE CUTEST. his idea of smacktalk is adorable.

apparently the compound word dictionary is a spoofy compound word dictionary. altho the fact that it seemed like an actual thing kinda says something about german word construction.... ("twist-pull-crush", yikes. but very descriptive!)
