last night i pimped the rivers of london books to my cousin, and he in turn told me to read jonathan strange and mr norrell. which i actually own! and have not yet read. (him: "have you read... uh... it's about a wizard in london." me (thinking): i thought i was reading it.) and as an aside about whispers under ground, i'm really loving all ( Read more... )

I cracked up at the idea of someone going around London underground, licking the walls, then writing a book about it (after he's been treated for the septic shock or whatever). That's priceless :D

And yay Wincon! Is that the one in Vegas, or was that last one? In any case, have tons of fun, connect with lots of fangirls and bring back embarrassing photos.

if anyone at any time has licked a wall in a london tube station, i do not want to know about it. that's some crazy shit right there.

this is the wincon in vegas! it's possible no one will ever know what happens there because, you know, whatever happens in vegas....

And you know that someone probably did at some point :D

Haha, I heard some guy talk on the radio once about embarrassing tattoos, like "Vegas 2010!!", and the DJ said that a Vegas tattoo has to be on one's ass. It's pretty much a requirement. So, go get that butt tattoo!

i think a group of fangirls have actually planned a tattoo trip in vegas. i'm pretty sure some folks got tattooed at wincon last year and the year before. i think i'd rather embarrass myself by not knowing how to play blackjack. fewer needles. :D

Yay Jonathan Strange and yay Rivers of London. Ben Aaronovitch wrote some great Classic Who back in the day. Remembrance of the Daleks rocks.

SFAICT at this point the difference between nerds and geeks is generational; nerds are from before it was cool.

i tend to use nerd and geek mostly interchangeably, but i always wonder if there's a difference. and the answer is "maybe not!" which is good to know.

i think jonathan strange is next on my to-read list, mostly because i have it and it was most recently pimped to me.

re: wincon: Woohoo! I'll be there before you, hope we can hang out! Though I don't envy you the plane time. :(
