i'm watching hannibal. i figure those are non-spoilery enough lines. :D hugh dancy is incredibly cute, but really i'm watching for mads mikkelsen. and i like it so far altho i keep trying to cross it with criminal minds. >.< it's the serial killers. i wish it wasn't on against elementary, tho ( Read more... )

How was Hannibal? I wasn't even going to look at it--serial killer overload!--but it's getting surprisingly good reviews, so now I am curious.

i'm not a huge fan of the disturbed/troubled/unbalanced/mentally cracked/pick-your-adjective detective consultant type, which is exactly what hugh dancy plays (the guy doesn't make eye contact, he thinks the same way the killers think, he stands in one victim's bedroom and replays how she was killed, he's clearly mentally fucked up), and i'm not sure that mads has the same creepy-ass charm that anthony hopkins' dr lecter had - he's kind of creepy, tho, i mean he has that kind of face, he's just not as hypnotic - but i like the way it's shot, there isn't a lot of background/soundtracky music (which i love), some of hugh's weird visions are weird in a good way, and because you know exactly who/what hannibal is, it's interesting watching him interact with law enforcement that has no idea what he's capable of. (well, i think it is....) altho i really did spend some time especially in the beginning wondering how the bau would deal with a. hannibal, and b. hugh's character whose name i can't remember. it's definitely worth watching, at ( ... )

I think I will check it out, then! I tend to be in favor of More Weirdness on television, so it might be worth a shot.

I automatically crossover all crime shows with Criminal Minds. That is the natural order of things.

Haha I was totally following you from several states away! I wonder if my doppelganger is a local or a tourist...

Glad to hear Hannibal is watch-able, since Red Dragon is my favorite of the books, and this looks like it will have that same vibe (only obviously taking place before that). I will definitely check the first couple of eps out!

i think your doppelganger was probably a local. i don't live in a particularly touristy area, and the bus doesn't go particularly touristy places. but still! you have a double in greater boston!

hannibal is definitely worth watching at least the pilot. it's kind of weird and kind of creepy and kind of disturbing and there were a couple of places where i went "OH MY GOD EW". and i like mads mikkelsen just on general principles.
