I don't actually think there *is* resolution with both the Amelia and Benny story lines. The shots of Benny near the park make me think there's gonna be something where Dean has to kill him- or watch Sam kill him. Same with Amelia, although hopefully with less death.

But yeah, that ending was a lot of WTF because really, that's it? Sam, who has been pulling away and trying to get himself out of it for YEARS, who finally has a chance with a woman who... yeah has issues with fidelity and what she wants, but still- he has an absolute out. Dean is giving it to him, guilt free.

And then poof, that's it? Either there's more to come or that was the coppiest of cop-outs.

So. I kind of hope there's more to come, given that.

i read in a comment to someone else's recap that ty olssen got a lead role in another series, which is why i think we might have seen the last of benny. i actually kind of hope that's true, because i don't want him to die. i don't want all the "oh poor dean" angst that will result from dean having to put him down, and i don't want a return to all the fighting and "sam doesn't care about/believe his brother" that will result from sam having to put him down. and i like him! and just don't want to see him die. and i actually don't expect to see amelia again, dead or alive, because i can't think why we would, unless there's a reason to give us another flashback. like, i don't think sam's going back to her, and i don't think anyone who would come gunning for him would go after her. altho as plot devices barriers to sam and dean getting along, amelia and benny were kind of short-lived.

it was soapy and shippy in a way the show really isn't, and it was boring

A million times, THIS. The storyline was this weird detour from the gist of the rest of the show, and Sam's longing for a normal life seemed ooc based on every season since S2. And like you say, uninteresting to boot. There was nothing compelling or original about their epic romance.

when it comes down to it. i cannot stand watching episode after episode where the boys are at each other's throats and do nothing but bitch and snipe and distrust and just... HATE each otherI really wanna write tbtb a letter begging for Sam and Dean to finally get back to being *delighted* to be together, taking actual *joy* in each other's company and feeling *grateful* that they've made it out alive from everything they've been through for each other. Maybe going to hell scarred Dean to the extent that he can't bring himself to feel that way, and Sam's mistakes re: demon blood made it all so much worse between them that feeling genuinely good about each other is impossible now ( ... )

FYI, i would watch the FUCK out of that.

i've been watching some of the early-series reruns on tnt (today i saw, uh, 2x05, can't remember the title, but the first time we meet andy, who is JUST AS CUTE in reruns) (seriously, he's so adorable) and the contrast between sam&dean then and sam&dean now is amazing. not just in terms of what they're dealing with - i mean, they've both gotten past john's death and sam's visions and the way they were raised and etc etc - but back then they seemed to at least like being with each other, a least most of the time. and in s7 and half of s6 (after sam got his soul back) they also seemed to be on pretty good terms. i mean, last season was kind of devoid of massive amounts of inter-brother angst and woe and anger and distrust - well, aside from dean killing amy - and yes they argued about stuff (ghost!bobby) but by and large they got along and acted like brothers who actually kind of enjoyed each other's company. and there's none of that any more, or only little glimpses, and i miss it SO MUCH. i know you need some tension otherwise ( ... )

well, it was easy in the sense that dean gave his little speech, sam took a walk, and the next thing we know, they're having dinner and watching tv together. maybe "the quickest resolution in the history of ever" would've been a better way to phrase it. i'm assuming there will be some kind of lingering tension somewhere, but still, it seemed remarkably quick and easy to me. sam didn't even mount a counter-argument, not even to himself ( ... )

i was never quite sold on her and sam's great healing love for each other anyway.

Oh, so much this. They kept telling us that they were so in love, but OMG, no chemistry whatsoever. I agree that it's good that Sam made the choice not to go back, and wasn't kept from making the rendezvous by outside forces, which was how it was looking for a bit there.

I agree it's good that that Sam and Dean are moving forward minus these encumbrances from last year. I'm just not sure why we needed to wait until after hiatus to resolve this stuff. Do they honestly think this was some sort of cliffhanger resolution or whatever? Last week's ep would have made a much better pre-hiatus one, I think.

Whatever...Sam and Dean! On my TV, together!

it's so disappointing (and kind of weird) that the ptb couldn't find an actress who has chemistry with jared! altho i didn't think he had a lot of chemistry with ruby 2.0 either.... (so when jared and genevieve got engaged i was BAFFLED because i never saw anything between them on sceen.) so maybe it's just that the actress they found just isn't all that good. but if you need someone to be sam's genuine love interest, and the woman with whom he found comfort and solace after losing dean - the kind of woman who seems to have come between him and dean - she should have some kind of spark. and amelia just didn't.

this whole season has been very light on cliffhangery episodes. the one right before the hiatus wasn't very "OMGWHATNEXT??" either.

at least the boys are willingly together minus their other distractions. altho i still think it was too easy!
