well. the surprise anniversary party was indeed a surprise. it went off without a hitch. (we will ignore the part where i was supposed to call my sister when the parents and i headed back to the house, only i'd left my phone in my car so i couldn't, so i had to borrow my dad's phone and hope my sister didn't look too hard at the incoming phone ( Read more... )

Yay successful party! That's so great. My mom's surprise for her 60th birthday got spoiled because she saw it written on a friend's calendar (but it was otherwise good!)

O.O oops.... right before dessert my sister gave this little speech, and she and i thanked everyone for coming, and i added "and thank you for all keeping the secret". because no one gave anything away.

i know! what's wrong with them? i didn't realize it was so NOT a new england thing until everyone started asking me what it was and what was in it and what it tasted like. and then one of my parents' friends said "it tastes like birthday cake" and i kind of wanted to smack her. it's BETTER than birthday cake, thank you.
