I read a review of Gods Behaving Badly a few weeks ago in the paper. As I recall, the review was mixed, but I thought the concept sounded funny. I'd love to know what you think!

it got mixed reviews on amazon too, which kind of makes me wonder if the rest of it is as good as the first chapter. maybe i need to find a large and quiet bookstore where i can read the second chapter in peace to see if i really do want to buy it or not.... (or they can just release it in paperback. :D )

the first chapter was really cute, at least. i would have bought it except it was in hardcover.

If you haven't read it, I recommend Temping Fate by Esther Friesner.

someone who looks suspiciously like farwing might have recommended that to me once upon a time, because it sounds really familiar and i know i've never read it.

i'm not quite sure - i only skimmed the introduction. from what i can tell, tho, it's about how we should be eating food but what we're really eating instead - most of the stuff you buy in the grocery store - is foodlike substances, and a lot of packaged food that claims to be healthy really isn't. it's about health and nutrition and the food industry in the us, i think. it's supposed to be really well-written and interesting and intelligent and sane. and it has a really nice photo of something lettucey on the cover. :D
