nano thots. curling.

i had a new & improved nano idea driving home from work yesterday, to wit: a westward ho! type apocafic. as in, some east coast person packs up and goes west and kind of collects other survivors along the way in a modern day wagon train caravan kind of thing. somehow they have to keep their vehicles gassed up and their selves fed and then they ( Read more... )

why is it people are always travelling east to west? Couldn't they travel west to east? Like, that big fault line you've got going on in California finally throws it's toys out the cot, among other apocalyptic things, most of the west coast disappears, and this guy packs up and starts heading back east in search of the fabled cities there.

Or something.

Whatever you write there should be hot m/m loving.

but my apocalypse is more of the people vanishing type and less of the earth pitching a hissy fit type. and i like the idea of the really difficult part of the trip - scaling the rockies and then having to cross utah or nevada - coming towards the end, so by the time you get to the pacific you're so happy to see ocean and greenery that you don't even care that an earthquake could come along any day and dump you off dry land and into the water.

plus i was thinking about the beach i went to in la.

only slightly related, have you ever read the parable of the sower by octavia butler?

oh my, yes. and very painful to read in places, emotionally. i recommend it, though, along with the follow-up, parable of the talents. butler's an amazing author.
