Kotono: step 17

Feb 03, 2009 10:17

Last update from my hiatus for you. From here on out, things should appear normal on this string of tutorials. :D

Now we can fix this continuity issue.

cut out this shape from your template copy and make two of them from 2mm craft foam.

Now do the same with the tiara shape. make two tiaras out of 2mm craft foam.

Next, cut out the inner circle shape from the hilt area. (the outer circle is the model magic shape. the inner circle is raised). When I initially laid out the pattern on the sword, it wasn't to scale. somehow the sword I'm making wasn't quite big enough in the hilt (by like, 2mm), so I had to scale my pattern down just a teeny tiny bit. Keep that in mind when making your patterns. ;) Cut out two of these circles out of 2mm foam.

Oh. Go ahead and attach those little bitty hearts below the foam, too, while you're at it. Use super glue and seal it up too, if you had to sand it any.

All of these foam pieces can be super glued to your sword and all must be fully sealed with diluted modge podge until all pores are OBLITERATED. Any remaining pores will suck up any paint put on it and look terrible. This is why we seal foam before painting.

Proceed to Step 18
