30 days of babble, dec 8 - what am i listening to right now

Dec 09, 2013 01:22

i didn't actually make it to the grocery store, the liquor store, and my parents' house in an hour, but it was close enough. i don't think i've ever blown through the grocery store in such a short period of time. didn't make it to the liquor store, tho. the hanukah party was as always marked by a lot of people, loud kids, and a lot of food. one of my cousins asked what exciting places i'd been to, so i told her i went to vegas in october, so of course she asked me why, and i tried to explain wincon to her. which meant i first had to explain what fangirls are. which... how can you not have at least a vague understanding? later she tried to pimp sherlock to me and i tried to pimp elementary to her. i'm not sure either of us convinced the other, but it was a fun conversation anyway. and people ate my cookies! even tho they came out of the oven a bit too early.

i'm currently watching bonnie & clyde on the history channel, which means it's "history" and while i freely admit i don't know a hell of a lot about bonnie and clyde, i do know enough to be cranky when the show gets things wrong. i mean, aside from the fact that the real bonnie was a tiny thing and the actress playing her isn't, and that clyde's tattoos look totally wrongw to be early 30s tats. for one thing, clyde didn't meet her when he and his brother crashed her wedding. (altho she was married when they met. she was still wearing the guy's ring when she died.) and i kinda doubt clyde randomly met frank hamer (the guy who set the ambush that killed them) so early in his career. and i highly doubt there was a female journalist in dallas who thought they would make a great story and wanted to follow them. they weren't a big romantic story in anyone's paper until cops caught up to them in joplin, mo. so far the cars look about right, tho.

ephemera wanted to know what music i'm listening to now, and i'm not actually sure how to answer the question. i don't drive to work any more so i don't listen to the radio, and i don't listen to music at work (i have spotify on my work laptop but got out of the habit of listening to it), and if i'm out and about long enough to want to take my ipod with me, i listen to mixes. my favorites are currently an 80s mix that deirdre_c put together, a spn s7 mix by cee_m, and the occasional mix i made for someone else. i can say that i really like lourde's royals (is that what it's called?) which i heard on the way to my parents' house today. we don't care, we're driving cadillacs in our dreams....

which reminds me! i heard the tail end of this song on the way home, and i know i know it but i can't for the life of me remember who sings it. the end of the chorus goes something like:

i know you will come through
you know it too
'cause you're talkin' 'bout someone i love

does that ring any bells?
