Chapter Two- Nightmare Restarted
“Dai-chan?”
Yuto frowned at his friend’s troubled expression. They both stood at the hospital’s entrance, contemplating on the options to begin searching for their friend’s whereabouts.
“Why isn’t he answering his phone?” Daiki mused and Yuto’s frown deepened, giving him an almost haggard appearance.
“You should’ve gone home with the others Yuto,” Daiki said turning upon the lanky boy who shook his head stubbornly in return.
“I won’t be able to shut my eyes to sleep knowing that Yamachan might be in some kind of distress,”
Daiki smiled slightly before nodding his agreement.
“How do we find him though?” Yuto asked as they approached the glass doors. Daiki raised a finger and placed it on his temple.
“Eh?” Yuto exclaimed as Daiki dragged him to a deserted hallway.
“Can you really find him…telepathically?”
Daiki shrugged.
“When we were back at the motel, I felt this sort of connection with Yamachan as if I knew he was around, but I couldn’t differentiate it from my own desire of finding him and a real telepathic connection. Now, I think, I might be able to detect his presence by connecting to his mind,”
“Connecting to his mind? With what a USB cable?” Yuto exclaimed as if the whole idea seemed extraordinarily far- fetched.
Daiki rolled his eyes.
“No idiot, I used to try and sneak into his consciousness a lot, especially when he was dreaming,”
“Why?” Yuto asked incredulously.
“Because that’s when a person’s mind is the most vulnerable to access and I feel like that has granted me the ability to be able to telepathically connect to him,”
“Weird,” Yuto commented, scratching the back of his head. “Still that wasn’t the answer to my ‘why’,” he muttered lowly wondering why on earth Daichan would want to do something like that in the first place.
“I know,” Daiki nodded in agreement. “I would not have been able to think about this either if I hadn’t wasted three months studying about the human mind and it’s mysteries, the librarian thought that I was doing a PhD or something.”
Yuto shook his head and tried to restrain a smile as he imagined Daiki with graying hair, a beard and glasses.
Daiki glared at him, giving Yuto the fear of having his thoughts scanned.
“Okay then,” he said folding his arms.
“Show me what you can do…find him.”

“I’ve taken adequate amount of sample from his blood and soon we will have it ready,”
“Good job Dr. Kawashima, I underestimated you,”
“It’s no big deal professor, no big deal at all.”
Kawashima sighed as he snapped his phone shut.
“It would have been fine from the start if they hadn’t brought in that insolent girl,”
He frowned and got to his feet, eyes lingering upon the boy upon the bed. He watched him quietly for a while, the sound of the heart-rate monitor filling in the silence of the room.
“How Yamada?” he asked softly, folding his arms and staring at the unconscious boy in wonder.
“How are you still alive?”
