(PART ONE)

Part Two - Awakening

I walk all alone in the darkness…

Black thunderous clouds spread over a city engulfed in complete darkness brightened only by frequent strikes of lightening that forked their way down to the extended tips of sky scrapers. Underneath the turbulent atmosphere, a figure clad in black pants with a silver chain-like belt, a sleeveless black top with a golden dragon and dark hoodie over it, strolled lazily down a deserted alley. He stopped as he came across a gangly boy sprawled on the ground. He kicked the unconscious boy slightly before tapping a small silver device latched onto the upper helix of his ear. A green light came on upon contact.

“Yeah, it’s me, I found a civilian…no wait…he’s not a civilian, he’s one of them, should I finish him off?”

The boy in black frowned as he heard his superior’s reply.

“Fine, I’ll bring this ‘tower’ back with me,” he huffed before tapping the communicator off.
He bent down to reach for the boy’s hand but moved just in time as a metallic shuriken came pelting his way. He scowled as a figure in white jumped down the roof of a building, as swift and graceful as a cat.

His eyes narrowed as he recognized the cold black eyes staring back at him dangerously. He reached for the hand blade hanging by his side but before he could draw it a huge light crossed the sky overhead landing not far off with a cacophonous bang, sending vibrations through the ground.

“Enjoy the lovely meteor shower Tsu,” he sneered and with a smirk dashed off and out of sight. Tsu rushed towards the unconscious boy and checked his pulse. She then turned on her own communicator.

“I’ve found him, quickly send transport.”

There’s no going back…

“Yabu-kun?”

Yabu scowled at the throbbing headache as he forced himself to open his eyes. The first thing he saw was a face; soft, glowing with innocent features and deep, watery eyes that were currently brimming with concern.

“Yama-chan?” he croaked weekly.

The said boy smiled gratefully and helped the elder into a sitting position.

Yabu stifled a yawn as he leaned against the wall and blinked a couple of times trying to comprehend the state of his unfamiliar surroundings. The room was unnaturally clean and smelled strongly of disinfectant. Everything was white; from the marble floor, to the walls, the furniture, the strange electrical equipments and even the blinds on the massive rectangular window opposite to his bed.

From what Yabu could make out, it was a medical center. He stiffened as he caught on the slight trace of a familiar scent and saw a girl sitting on a chair eyeing him blankly.

Just then the door opened and Akinishi Jin strolled into the room. He was clad in baggy pants and boots with a sleeveless top and high-collared jacket over it. By his side hung a leather holster housing a silver revolver with intricate carvings on its sleek body.

“Thank God you’re awake, now we can get to business,” he exclaimed enthusiastically.

“Not much good though, the other side already knows about our new recruit,” the girl huffed irritably.

“So dess ka?”

Yabu gaped at Jin who looked back and gave him a playful wink before walking over to one of the monitors.

“What’s the status of my baby?” he asked typing away. Tsu rolled her eyes.

“Senpai, you have a very interesting way of using a language you know that?”

“Yup,”

“I see,” she sighed.

“Is it really raining stars again?”

“There you go again,”

“Make a wish, actually make as many as you want,”

“Are you still trying to be funny or are you actually serious this time?”

“Um, where am I?” Yabu finally voiced finding it small and insignificant. Yamada left his side suddenly only to return swiftly with a bowl of hot soup. Yabu felt his stomach grumble as the smell reached his nostrils. He took the bowl gratefully.

“You’re at SHIRO, the headquarters of the Warriors in White,” Tsu replied slapping Jin’s hands away from the keyboard. The elder held his hands close to him dejectedly rubbing the spot she hit him.

“Say what?” Yabu asked incredulously.

“Looks like you hit your head pretty hard there,” Jin voiced failing to hide the concern in his calm and lay back tone. Yamada was scrutinizing Yabu’s confused features and he frowned.

“Tsu, lets open the window,” he said suddenly. She looked at the younger boy before her eyes widened in understanding. She walked towards the window as Yamada got up from the bed and followed her, Yabu at his heels.

Then stare straight forward
And I will show you how to solve
This mystery filled story.

Yabu stood in anticipation as Tsu’s palm pressed a rounded, blue elevation, pushing it into the wall causing the blinds to pull up immediately. Yabu felt all his senses crash down upon him making him feel winded. He felt like he had just fallen a couple of feet and was still falling.

“This, this can’t be real right?” he gasped. ‘This has to be a dream?’

Through the rectangular window, he saw his beloved Tokyo in hues of black, gray and white. The sky was thick with storm clouds, a mixture of creamy shades of gray disrupted by frequent flashes of white and electric blue. The city underneath seemed like rusted metal, in complete darkness, lonely, abandoned. Deafening bangs could be heard in the distance as blazing meteors descended from the sky and carved momentary lanes of blazing light.

“What…how…this can’t be real, I must be dreaming,” he choked unable to comprehend the visuals displayed.

“What are you talking about Yabu-kun?” Yamada looked up at him worried.

“You just woke up.”

Welcome to nightmare world tonight…
