haha yeah.... OTL I honestly can't believe it escalated to something THIS bad. We all expected a riot.... (sadly =__=) but I really didn't think it would get so bad that people's lives would be lost or buildings set on fire. However, the damage done wasn't by people of Vancouver or really fans... it was people who specifically wait for moments they CAN do damage like this and get away with it.
Oh wow....I know people can get passionate about sports but every time I hear stuff like this, I can't help to think how ridiculous it is to get riled up over a game--especially to the point of casualities.
ya srsly =__= Although, most of the people who did this actually arnt fans or care about sports at all. They are anarchists who wait for opportunities to do damage.
Im certainly proud of the efforts of the Vancouver police department and the people of Vancouver who were out cleaning up the mess today. That's certainly something to be proud of ^^
Ugh, so embarrassing. Hopefully your brother is okay, that would be terrifying. D8
Unfortunately I can't help but think that the city (as in, the guys in charge) kind of had it coming... you can't really invite 100,000 people into an enclosed area like that and expect it to be cupcakes and unicorns. So while it's awful that these people would stoop to this low, the City of Vancouver had a partial hand in making it happen. :C
I completely disagree. Vancouver has hosted numerous large gathering events and never had issues (at least of this extent). The Olympics? The fireworks *every year* in English Bay?
The only people at fault are the ones who caused the damage. And out of 100, 000 people... maybe 1-2 thousand actually were the anarchists in this.
I'm not embarrassed of my city. I feel sorry for such low human beings like the scum that thought this was 'fun' last night. They should be embarrassed.
Mmm, there are significant differences here. The Olympics, while the same kind of atmosphere, benefitted from the MASSIVE amounts of security accompanying the crowds. Also, we only know reaction after we had won-- could you imagine if we lost? And the fireworks are an unfair comparison, it's a relaxed family event as compared to a high-tension sporting event (where a lot of people are drunk). The city had taken a highly flawed model (the crowd after Canada won gold in a controlled environment) and tried to duplicate the results with less security thinking it'd be the exact same
( ... )
I seriously don't get people sometimes when things like this happen - like damn I'm all about being passionate for your time but do you REALLY have to go around destroying everything if they lose? SERIOUSLY
